This is a hospital-based contractual assignment under the Government of West Bengal, with the work divided among broad patient-care specialties and diagnostic or academic units.

The notice uses a department-wise walk-in schedule, so you should identify the specialty matching your postgraduate medical qualification before attending. Most roles are rooted in daily hospital service, while Haematopathology, Microbiology, Pathology and Pharmacology add laboratory, diagnostic and teaching support to the college's work.

Posts and Disciplines

  • Anesthesia: peri-operative and critical-care support within the hospital's clinical services.
  • General Surgery: surgical ward, operating-room and patient follow-up work.
  • General Medicine: inpatient and outpatient medical care under the department's senior doctors.
  • Haematopathology: blood and marrow diagnostic support, reporting and coordination with treating teams.
  • Gastroenterology: specialty care for patients with digestive-system conditions and related procedures.
  • Microbiology: laboratory support for organism identification, infection control and clinical reporting.
  • Pathology: specimen evaluation, diagnostic reporting and coordination with clinical departments.
  • Pharmacology: academic and medicine-related support within the medical college department.

Post-wise Duties

General Medicine

You will examine patients, keep clinical notes and support treatment decisions across medical wards and outpatient services.

Haematopathology

You will help process and interpret haematology material and communicate diagnostic findings to the relevant clinical unit.

Gastroenterology

You will assist with specialty clinics, inpatient reviews and gastroenterology procedures as assigned by the department.

Microbiology

You will support culture and testing work, maintain laboratory quality and contribute to infection-control reporting.

Pathology

You will help examine specimens, prepare reports and maintain accurate diagnostic records for clinical use.

Pharmacology

You will support departmental academic work, medicine-related review and teaching activities appropriate to a Senior Resident.

Service Conditions and Caveats

  • Contract term: The initial appointment is for six months and may be extended up to one year based on your performance and the recommendation of the concerned Head of Department.
  • Specialty match: Your postgraduate medical qualification must be in the field relevant to the department you choose.
