National Institute of Immunology (NII) JRF Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

The National Institute of Immunology (NII), an autonomous research institute under the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India, is hiring one Junior Research Fellow (Project) for a Lady Tata Memorial Trust (LTMT)-funded research project. The project, titled "Targeting methyltransferases in anti-BCMA CAR-T cells to enhance its antitumor efficacy against multiple myeloma," is led by Dr. Rajesh Kumar Yadav, Staff Scientist-IV. The position is tenable until December 2028, offering a great opportunity for life science graduates to work on cutting-edge immunotherapy research at one of India's premier institutes.

Who Can Apply?

  • Qualification: You need a Master's Degree in Biochemistry, Immunology, Biotechnology, Life Science, or a closely related field from a recognised university.
  • Desirable: NET-JRF or equivalent National-Level fellowship examination qualification is preferred but not mandatory.

  • Cell Culture: You should be proficient in maintaining T cell cultures and working with lentiviral vectors.

Desirable Skills

  • Bioinformatics: Understanding of tools like AutoDock, AMBER, and other computational biology software for data analysis will be an added advantage.

Salary

  • You will receive a consolidated salary of Rs. 37,000 per month.
  • Additionally, you will get 27% House Rent Allowance (HRA) as per DST norms.
  • Total monthly take-home comes to approximately Rs. 46,990 including HRA.

Selection Process

The selection will be done in 2 stages:

  1. Shortlisting: Only shortlisted candidates based on qualifications, skills, and experience will be called for interview. Shortlisted candidates must bring attested copies of all certificates.
  2. Interview (Offline/Online): You may be interviewed in person at NII, New Delhi, or through an online video call. No TA/DA will be provided for attending the interview.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in designing and executing experiments related to CAR-T cell generation and epigenetic modifications
  • Maintain T cell cultures and work with lentiviral vector systems for gene delivery
  • Conduct flow cytometry experiments and analyse data using FlowJo software
  • Perform molecular biology experiments including PCR, DNA extraction, and cloning
  • Participate in interpreting experimental results and preparing research reports
  • Keep accurate laboratory records, maintain reagent inventories, and follow safety protocols
