Mizoram PSC Inspector of Excise & Narcotics and State Tax Officer Recruitment 2026 - 7 Posts

Mizoram Public Service Commission (Mizoram PSC) has released Advertisement No.9 of 2026-2027 for the Mizoram Group 'B' (Gazetted) General Services Combined Competitive Examination, 2026. The recruitment fills 2 Inspector of Excise & Narcotics posts under the Excise & Narcotics Department and 5 State Tax Officer posts under the Finance Department. Both are permanent Group B Gazetted positions with the Government of Mizoram.

Who Can Apply?

For Inspector of Excise & Narcotics (Level 8)

• Qualification: Graduate or its equivalent from any recognised University.
• Physical Measurements: Height — 5 feet 4 inches (5'4"); Chest — Normal 34 inches, Expanded 36 inches.
• Physical Test: 100m race in 15 seconds; 800m race in 3 minutes.

For State Tax Officer (Level 7)

• Qualification: Bachelor's degree from a recognised University.

Common Requirements (All Posts)

• Computer Proficiency: As prescribed under the Mizoram Group 'A', 'B' and 'C' posts Service/Recruitment (Amendment) Rules, 2023.
• Mizo Language Proficiency: You must pass the qualifying test. Exemption available if you studied Mizo as a subject in Class 10 (HSLC) or above in Mizoram, or opted for Mizo as MIL outside Mizoram.

Age Limit

• Inspector of Excise & Narcotics: You should be between 18 and 30 years as on 1 January 2026.
• State Tax Officer: You should be between 18 and 35 years as on 1 January 2026.
• Age Relaxation: Upper age limit is relaxable by 5 years for SC/ST candidates, or as notified by the Government.

Salary

• Inspector of Excise & Narcotics: Level 8 of the Pay Matrix — entry pay Rs. 47,600 per month
• State Tax Officer: Level 7 of the Pay Matrix — entry pay Rs. 44,900 per month
• You will also get DA, HRA, TA and other allowances as per Mizoram Government rules.

• Height: 5 feet 4 inches (5'4")
• Chest: 34 inches normal, 36 inches expanded
• Race: 100 metres in 15 seconds; 800 metres in 3 minutes

Selection Process

The selection will be done in the following stages:

1. Written Examination — Combined Competitive Examination conducted by Mizoram PSC at all district headquarters (syllabus on MPSC website)
2. Physical Standard Test and Physical Endurance Test (for Inspector of Excise & Narcotics only)
3. Mizo Language Proficiency Qualifying Test (if not exempted)
4. Document Verification
5. Final Merit List

How to Apply

1. Go to the Mizoram PSC online portal at mpsconline.mizoram.gov.in.
2. Complete the One Time Registration (OTR) — register by 4:00 PM on 19 June 2026.
3. Fill in the online application form for Advertisement No.9 of 2026-2027.
4. Upload required documents — marksheets, educational certificates, computer proficiency certificate, Mizo language certificate and age proof.
5. Pay the application fee online (UPI from the registered mobile number only).
6. Submit the application and verify successful submission before 4:00 PM on 19 June 2026.

Government servants must apply through proper channel. PwD candidates are exempted from application fees.

• Inspector of Excise & Narcotics — Detect, investigate and prosecute offences under Excise and Narcotics laws
• Order arrests, issue warrants and direct investigations under departmental laws
• Act as officer-in-charge of Excise & Narcotics field offices
• State Tax Officer — Conduct tax-related investigations, surveys and field verifications
• Examine books of accounts and tax records of registered taxpayers
• Handle field work and on-site inspections within assigned jurisdiction
• Prepare reports and follow up on tax compliance matters
