MCD RBIPMT Senior and Junior Resident Recruitment 2026: Overview

Rajan Babu Institute for Pulmonary Medicine and Tuberculosis (RBIPMT) is holding a joint residency recruitment with Maharishi Valmiki Infectious Diseases Hospital (MVIDH) under the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD). The notice covers Senior Resident and Junior Resident engagements in Delhi through a walk-in arrangement. These are time-bound hospital residencies governed by the government Residency Scheme, with separate service terms for the senior and junior roles.

• Senior Resident, Chest and TB: this specialist residency is based at RBIPMT.
• Senior Resident, Anaesthesia: this is a separate specialist role at RBIPMT.

• Junior Resident: the notice includes junior residency positions at both RBIPMT and MVID Hospital.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Senior residency term: your first engagement lasts one year. Extensions can be granted a year at a time up to a total of three years, subject to satisfactory work and conduct.
• Junior residency term: the first appointment lasts six months. A further six-month extension can take it to one year, again depending on your work and conduct.
• Previous residency: time already spent in other government hospitals counts towards the normal tenure ceiling. Check your earlier service before treating this as a fresh full term.
• Exceptional consideration: if enough fresh candidates are unavailable, doctors who have completed the usual residency period may appear and enter a separate list. That list is considered after the fresh list is exhausted; the overall ceilings become five years for senior residency and two years for junior residency, including earlier government-hospital service.
• Scheme takes priority: the additional-tenure provisions only enable consideration when needed. Recruitment must first follow the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare Residency Scheme and its amendments.
• Practice and outside duties: private practice is prohibited during residency. Duties across other hospitals or institutions are normally not permitted.
• Appointment limits: residency gives you no claim to a regular appointment. The hospital can end the tenure at any time without giving a reason.
• Travel: you will not receive travelling or daily allowance for attending the interview.
• Reservation notes: the notice provides 4% reservation for persons with disabilities and 10% for EWS, and states a preference for these candidates. An EWS seat may be filled by an unreserved candidate when no EWS candidate is available.
