MbPA Planning Multi-Post Recruitment 2026: Overview

Mumbai Port Authority (MbPA) is building its Planning Division team for port land and township development work. The contractual roles bring together planning, infrastructure, urban design and office support within the Civil Engineering Department in Mumbai. You would work on development proposals and the supporting records needed to take them forward.

Posts and Disciplines

• Advisor (Planning): Leads the port’s land and township planning work.
• Chief Manager (Planning)-I: Focuses on statutory planning and development permissions.
• Chief Manager (Planning)-II: Handles infrastructure and engineering project delivery.
• Manager (Planning): Coordinates development plans and planning proposals.
• Associate Planner: Works on land use, redevelopment and planning policy.
• Urban Designer: Covers architectural form, streetscapes and public spaces.
• Deputy Planner: Supports development plans and spatial analysis.
• Junior Planner: Prepares planning drawings and development proposals.
• Document Controller: Organises project documentation and office communication.
• Clerk: Supports routine records, correspondence and administration.

Post-wise Duties

Advisor (Planning)

You would guide master planning and waterfront development, help frame planning policies and advise the port on project phasing.

Chief Manager (Planning)-I

You would scrutinise building and development permissions, examine regulatory compliance and coordinate statutory planning approvals.

Chief Manager (Planning)-II

You would coordinate infrastructure projects, tender preparation and consultant inputs while tracking implementation, cost and quality.

Manager (Planning)

You would process development plans, assess land use and help prepare reports for senior officers.

Associate Planner

You would assess redevelopment proposals, examine site feasibility and prepare land-use calculations and spatial information.

Urban Designer

You would prepare urban design concepts, drawings and visualisations, and review proposals for public spaces and heritage areas.

Deputy Planner

You would prepare planning drawings and spatial plans, analyse land use and support scrutiny of consultant submissions.

Junior Planner

You would develop layout and area-development proposals, prepare approval drawings and help process development-permission cases.

Document Controller

You would organise project records and submissions, track correspondence and prepare meeting records and formatted reports.

Clerk

You would handle data entry and office files, prepare correspondence and support scanning, dispatch and document compilation.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Tenure: The initial contract lasts three years. MbPA may extend it by another year at its discretion.
• Full-time commitment: You cannot take another assignment during this engagement. The contract does not give you the status or rights of a regular port employee.
• Working arrangements: Normal duty runs from 10 AM to 6 PM, subject to administrative changes. Extra hours may be needed without additional compensation; work on a weekly rest day may earn compensatory rest.
• Leave: The terms provide 20 days of casual leave and seven additional paid days for relevant professional-development events. Unused leave cannot be carried forward or encashed.
• Exit: Either side may end the contract with one month’s written notice. Leaving without the required notice or its acceptance can lead to forfeiture of pay covering the notice period.
• Other conditions: Police antecedent checks apply. You must sign an integrity pact, and no travel or daily allowance is paid for attending a test or interview.
• Experience certificate: MbPA will not issue one if you leave before completing a year of engagement.
