Who Can Apply?

Librarian

  • Qualification: You need a Master's degree in Library Science, Information Science, Documentation Science or equivalent professional degree with at least 55% marks.
  • Additional requirement: You must have knowledge of library computerisation or digitalisation.
  • NET/Ph.D. rule: You must have cleared NET/SET/SLET, or have a Ph.D. exemption as per UGC rules mentioned in the notice.
  • Desirable: PG Diploma in Library Automation and Networking or equivalent.

Assistant

  • Qualification: You need a Bachelor's degree from a recognised institute or university.
  • Experience: You need 2 years experience as Junior Assistant or equivalent in a university, research establishment, government body, PSU, autonomous body or eligible reputed organisation.
  • Typing: English typing at 35 wpm or Hindi typing at 30 wpm.
  • Computer knowledge: Computer operation proficiency is required.

Lab Assistant and Junior Assistant

  • Lab Assistant: Bachelor's degree with at least 2 years working and maintenance experience of sophisticated scientific instruments in a laboratory.
  • Junior Assistant: Bachelor's degree, English typing at 35 wpm or Hindi typing at 30 wpm, and computer operation proficiency.

Attendant Posts

  • Library Attendant: 10+2 or equivalent from a recognised board plus certificate course in Library Science.
  • Lab Attendant: 10+2 with Science, or 10th pass with Science plus skill certificate in Laboratory Technology or ITI in the relevant trade.

Age Limit

  • Assistant, Lab Assistant, Junior Assistant and Attendant posts: Maximum age is 32 years as on the closing date of application.
  • Librarian: Age limit will be as per University of Delhi/UGC norms.
  • Age relaxation: SC/ST get 5 years, OBC (NCL) get 3 years, PwBD get 10 years, PwBD + OBC get 13 years, and PwBD + SC/ST get 15 years as per rules.
  • Other relaxation: Ex-servicemen and eligible government/university/college employees may get relaxation as mentioned in the notice.

Salary

  • Librarian: Academic Pay Level 10, about Rs. 57,700 to Rs. 1,82,400 per month.
  • Assistant and Lab Assistant: Pay Level 4, Rs. 25,500 to Rs. 81,100 per month.
  • Junior Assistant: Pay Level 2, Rs. 19,900 to Rs. 63,200 per month.
  • Library Attendant and Lab Attendant: Pay Level 1, Rs. 18,000 to Rs. 56,900 per month.
  • Selected candidates will also get admissible allowances as per University of Delhi and government rules.

Selection Process

The selection process can include written test, interview, skill test and document verification, depending on the post.

  1. Librarian written test: 100 MCQs for 400 marks in 2 hours. The paper is bilingual in English and Hindi. There is negative marking of 1 mark per wrong answer.
  2. Librarian interview: Candidates are shortlisted from the written test; final selection is based on interview performance.
  3. Assistant preliminary test: MCQ test of 150 questions for 300 marks in 3 hours. It is used for shortlisting.
  4. Assistant main exam: Descriptive main exam for 200 marks in 2 hours, followed by a qualifying skill test of 100 marks.
  5. Typing/skill test: English typing at 35 wpm or Hindi typing at 30 wpm, computer operation, noting and drafting may be tested.
  6. Document verification: Selected or shortlisted candidates must produce original documents and category certificates.
