This recruitment gives first preference to land loser candidates — people whose land was acquired to build the Konkan Railway line between Roha (Maharashtra) and Thokur (Karnataka) — followed by candidates registered with Employment Exchanges along the Konkan Railway route, and then other candidates domiciled in Maharashtra, Goa, or Karnataka. Freshers with the right qualification for their chosen post, from 10th pass to engineering graduates, are welcome to apply.

Vacancy Breakdown by Post

Category-wise split of the 201 total posts: UR 105, EWS 27, SC 40, ST 19, OBC-NCL 10. This also includes 20 Ex-Servicemen and 1 PwBD horizontal reservation posts. Recruitment for Track Maintainer is open only to Land Loser candidates.

Who Can Apply?

Track Maintainer (Level 1 - Rs. 18,000/month):

• Qualification: 10th pass from a recognised board. Open only to Land Loser candidates.

Assistant Loco Pilot (Level 2 - Rs. 19,900/month):

• Qualification: Matriculation/SSLC plus ITI in Electrician, Fitter, Diesel Mechanic, or a related trade, OR Matric plus a 3-year Diploma in Mechanical/Electrical/Electronics/Automobile Engineering.

ESTM-III and Technician-III (Level 2 - Rs. 19,900/month):

• Qualification: Matriculation/SSLC plus ITI in Electrician, Electronics Mechanic, Wireman, Fitter, or a related trade (or 10+2 with Physics and Maths for ESTM-III).

Junior Engineer - Civil & Mechanical (Level 6 - Rs. 35,400/month):

• Qualification: A 3-year Diploma in the relevant Engineering stream, or a Degree in the same discipline from an AICTE-approved institute.

Station Master, Section Controller, Goods Train Manager, Commercial Supervisor (Level 5/6 - Rs. 29,200-35,400/month):

• Qualification: A Graduation degree in any discipline from a recognised university.

Senior Section Engineer - S&T & Mechanical (Level 7 - Rs. 44,900/month):

• Qualification: A 4-year Bachelor's Degree in Engineering — Electrical/Electronics/IT/Communication/CS for S&T, or Mechanical/Electrical/Electronics/Production for Mechanical.

Domicile: Preference goes first to land loser candidates, then to Employment Exchange registered candidates along the Konkan Railway route, and then to candidates domiciled in Maharashtra, Goa, or Karnataka.

Age Limit

• For Group C posts, you should be between 18 and 36 years old as on 01 August 2026.
• For Track Maintainer (Group D), the age limit is 18 to 45 years.
• Age Relaxation: SC/ST candidates get 5 years extra, OBC-NCL gets 3 years extra. Ex-servicemen get 3 to 8 years relaxation depending on category. PwBD candidates get 10 to 15 years relaxation.
• Serving KRCL employees with 3+ years of regular service get relaxed upper age limits of up to 40-45 years depending on category.

Salary

• Pay ranges from Rs. 18,000 per month (Track Maintainer, Level 1) to Rs. 44,900 per month (Senior Section Engineer, Level 7) under the 7th Central Pay Commission.
• Other posts fall in between: Rs. 19,900 (Level 2 — ALP, ESTM-III, Technician-III), Rs. 29,200 (Level 5 — Goods Train Manager), and Rs. 35,400 (Level 6 — JE, Station Master, Section Controller, Commercial Supervisor).
• You will also get DA, HRA, and other allowances as per Railway/PSU rules.

Physical Standards

• Minimum height: 152 cm for male candidates and 150 cm for female candidates (relaxed for Gorkha, Assamese, Nagaland tribal, and Garhwali candidates).
• You must meet vision standards ranging from 6/6 to 6/18 depending on the post's medical category (A-1 to C-1). Candidates who have had LASIK surgery are not eligible for medical categories A-1, A-2, A-3, or B-1.

Physical Efficiency Test (PET) — for Track Maintainer only:

• Male candidates: Carry 35 kg of weight for 100 metres in 2 minutes, and run 1000 metres in 4 minutes 15 seconds.
• Female candidates: Carry 20 kg of weight for 100 metres in 2 minutes, and run 1000 metres in 5 minutes 40 seconds.

Application Fee

• All candidates: Rs. 1,180 (Rs. 1,000 + 18% GST) per examination group, plus payment gateway charges.
• SC / ST / Ex-Servicemen / Female / Minorities / EBC / PwBD candidates: Fee is refunded after you appear in the CBT (bank charges deducted).
• Payment mode: Online only, via net banking, debit/credit card, or UPI.

Selection Process

The exact stages depend on your post, but generally follow this order:

1. Computer Based Test (CBT): Objective MCQs covering General Science, Basic Mathematics, General Awareness & Reasoning, and Technical Ability (for technical posts). Each paper runs for 90 minutes and is available in English, Hindi, Marathi, Konkani, and Kannada.
2. Computer-Based Aptitude Test (CBAT) / OMR Aptitude Test: Only for Section Controller, Station Master, and Assistant Loco Pilot. Your final merit uses 70% weightage from CBT and 30% from the Aptitude Test.
3. Physical Efficiency Test (PET): Only for Track Maintainer — qualifying in nature.

Negative Marking: 1 mark is deducted for each wrong answer in the CBT. Qualifying marks: 50% for UR/EWS and 40% for OBC-NCL/SC/ST for Group C posts; 40% for UR/EWS and 30% for OBC-NCL/SC/ST for Track Maintainer.
