JGMCH Senior Resident Recruitment 2026: Overview

Jhargram Government Medical College & Hospital (JGMCH), under the Department of Health and Family Welfare, Government of West Bengal, is engaging Senior Residents on a purely contractual, non-bond basis in seven clinical departments of the hospital at Jhargram. Each engagement is primarily for a six-month tenure and is renewable if your service is found satisfactory.

Selection happens at a single walk-in interview held in the Principal's office — there is no online form and no advance postal application. The hospital weighs your academic record along with how you do in front of the Interview Board, so carry a clean, complete document file. Doctors who have just finished a postgraduate degree and want senior residency close to home in the Jangalmahal region are the natural fit for this notice.

Posts and Disciplines

Senior residency is open in seven disciplines. You can appear only for the discipline in which you hold your MD, MS or DNB.

• General Medicine: senior residency in the hospital's internal medicine unit.
• General Surgery: senior residency in the general surgical unit.
• Obstetrics and Gynaecology: senior residency in the maternity and gynaecology unit.
• Anaesthesiology: senior residency with the anaesthesia team.
• Orthopedics: senior residency in the orthopaedic unit.
• ENT: senior residency in the ear, nose and throat unit.
• Radiology: senior residency in the radiodiagnosis unit.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Nature of engagement: Purely contractual and non-bond. The notice states plainly that the appointment gives you no right or preference for a regular appointment later.
• Tenure: Six months to begin with, renewable only if your service is satisfactory.
• Service benefits: No provident fund, pension, gratuity, medical benefit or seniority benefit is admissible during this engagement.
• Pay: Paid as per the state health department's memorandum No. HF/O/MERT/251/ME/MISC-109-2025 dated 21 March 2025 and any later amendment; the advertisement itself does not print the figure.
• No automatic call: Turning up with an application does not by itself make you eligible to face the Interview Board.
• False information: A wrong declaration or anything contrary to law cancels your candidature at any stage and can invite legal action.
• Litigation and cancellation: The engagement is subject to the outcome of any recruitment-related litigation, and the authority may cancel the advertisement before the interview date without giving a reason.
• Policy: The Senior Resident recruitment policy of the Department of Health and Family Welfare, Government of West Bengal, applies to this engagement.
• Travel: No TA or DA is paid for attending the interview.
