Jalgaon City Municipal Corporation (JCMC) is forming a panel of advocates and appointing a Chief Legal Advisor under its 2026 litigation-management rules. The work covers court representation and legal guidance connected with municipal finance, public property, revenue, town planning, land acquisition, contracts, staff matters and citizen services. This is broader than a single courtroom brief. JCMC wants advocates for the Supreme Court, High Court, district and subordinate courts, labour and industrial forums, cooperative authorities and specialised municipal matters. Placement on the panel does not create a municipal-service post or guarantee that a fixed number of cases will be assigned.

Posts and Disciplines

• Chief Legal Advisor: Guides the corporation on complex and policy-sensitive disputes, appeals, legal strategy and exposure to financial or administrative risk.
• Higher Court Panels: Represent JCMC before the Supreme Court and High Court, including appeals, reviews and other appropriate proceedings.
• District and Specialist Court Panels: Handle district, subordinate, labour, industrial, cooperative, consumer and criminal matters.
• Land, Revenue and Planning Panels: Work on land-acquisition references, town planning, municipal laws, property, revenue and property-tax disputes.

Post-wise Duties

Panel Advocates

You will attend hearings regularly, study the case papers, coordinate with the relevant municipal department and prepare pleadings, replies, appeals or review applications when needed. After each hearing, you must give the Legal Department a written update covering the order, next action and any legal instruction needed.

Chief Legal Advisor

You will provide strategic legal guidance on major or high-risk cases, review court orders and recommend appeals, settlements or specialist counsel where appropriate. The role also supports early scrutiny of case records and helps the corporation identify legal, financial and administrative risks before decisions are taken.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Engagement: The panel appointment is contractual and temporary, with no claim to regular municipal service.
• Tenure: The initial panel term is three years; JCMC may shorten, extend or cancel an appointment according to its requirements and the rules.
• Practice: You must remain an enrolled, actively practising advocate and keep the office, staff and case-handling capacity needed for municipal litigation.
• Languages: Working knowledge of Marathi, Hindi and English is required for files, communication and court work.
• Digital working: You must be able to use e-filing, e-court portals, video hearings, PDF documents, email and other electronic systems used for litigation management.
