IPA Senior Consultant and Consultant Recruitment 2026: Overview

Indian Ports Association (IPA) is hiring Senior Consultants and Consultants to support the International Cooperation Division of the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways in New Delhi. You would work on the ministry's international maritime cooperation programme while remaining on IPA's direct contractual payroll.

IPA is the apex body of India's major ports, established in 1966 under the Societies Registration Act. The International Cooperation Division coordinates maritime cooperation with individual countries and international forums, including work connected with trade corridors and shipping agreements.

Posts and Disciplines

• Senior Consultant: The senior consultant role forms part of the International Cooperation Division in New Delhi, supporting the ministry's international maritime work.
• Consultant: This role sits in the same division and shares the advertised international cooperation work. The notice gives a common set of duties for both designations.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Initial tenure: The full-time contract starts for 2 years. An extension depends on performance, mutual willingness and the continuing need for the work.
• Employment policy: Your service terms follow the Indian Ports Association Contract Employment Policy, 2025, including amendments made from time to time.
• Office hours: Normal working hours are 09:00 to 17:30, with Saturdays and Sundays off, subject to change. Urgent work may involve extra hours or holidays.
• Exclusive engagement: You cannot take another professional appointment during this contract. This restriction covers paid and unpaid work in government, private organizations or any other organization.
• Leave: You receive 1 day of paid leave for each completed month. Unused leave cannot accumulate beyond the calendar year.
• Ending the contract: Either side may end the engagement with one month's notice. The ministry can also end it at any time in unavoidable special circumstances.
• Joining: If selected, you must join within one month after the appointment letter is issued. The notice also asks you to confirm willingness for the post at the interview.
• Recruitment discretion: IPA can cancel, restrict or change the recruitment. Meeting the stated requirements does not create an automatic right to an interview.
• Conduct and disputes: Canvassing leads to disqualification. Recruitment disputes fall under courts or tribunals with jurisdiction in Delhi.

• Produce research articles and other publications supported by data.
• Attend seminars and conferences and prepare clear summary notes.
