Indian Navy (IN) Recruitment of Naval Civilian Staff 2026 - 382 Posts

The Indian Navy, under the Ministry of Defence, has released Advertisement No. INCET-01/2026 (ABS/DEP) to fill various Group B (Non-Gazetted) and Group C posts at naval units across Mumbai, Visakhapatnam, Kochi and Karwar. Postings cover 27 distinct trades — from Foreman roles in Metal, Electrical, Mechanical and Ship Building disciplines to support staff like Cook and Tradesman Mate. Most posts are filled by deputation or Short-Term Contract/Re-employment, with a few filled through absorption. If you are a government or PSU employee holding an analogous post, or with the required years of service and trade qualification, you can apply for the discipline that matches your background. Who Can Apply?

This recruitment is only open to serving employees — not fresh graduates. You need to be working in the Central Government, State Government, a Union Territory, a PSU, an autonomous body, a university, or a recognised research institution, and meet one of these conditions:

• You hold an analogous post on a regular basis in your parent department; or
• You have the required years of regular service in the equivalent 7th CPC pay level for that trade (for example, 5 years in Level-6 for Foreman-Metal applicants).

You also need the specific educational qualification and trade experience prescribed for your discipline. For instance, Foreman (Metal) candidates need a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering plus 3 years' experience in welding, brazing, metalizing or fabrication work in a government/PSU setup. Each of the 27 trades has its own diploma/certificate and experience requirement — check Annexure I of the official notification for the exact criteria for your post.

There are two application routes for this recruitment. Under Deputation/ISTC/Re-employment, you continue to hold lien on your parent department and serve the Navy on a fixed-term basis. Under Absorption (available for Laboratory Demonstrator, Store Superintendent, Cook, Washerman/Boy, Tradesman Mate and Bootmaker posts), you permanently join the Navy but with zero seniority in your new unit.

Salary

• Pay ranges from Rs. 18,000 to Rs. 63,200 per month (Pay Level 1-2) for Cook, Washerman/Boy, Tradesman Mate and Bootmaker posts.
• Pay ranges from Rs. 25,500 to Rs. 92,300 per month (Pay Level 4-5) for Tradesman, Store Superintendent and Laboratory Demonstrator posts.
• Pay ranges from Rs. 35,400 to Rs. 1,12,400 per month (Pay Level 6) for Senior Store Superintendent (Armament).
• Pay ranges from Rs. 44,900 to Rs. 1,42,400 per month (Pay Level 7) for all Foreman grades.
• You will also get deputation allowance and other perks admissible under Government of India rules.
• Selected candidates will normally serve under their assigned Command Headquarters but can be posted anywhere in India in Naval units or formations as per administrative requirement.

Selection Process

There is no written exam for this recruitment. Selection happens in these steps:
