India Meteorological Department (IMD), under the Ministry of Earth Sciences, has released a circular for consultant engagement under the ACROSS sub-scheme, which is now part of the Mission Mausam framework. Who Can Apply?

Administrative Consultant

• Eligibility: Retired Central Government officers who retired at the level of Under Secretary, Section Officer or equivalent Level 11.
• Experience: General administration, establishment matters, procurement, GFR, e-office, GeM portal, finance, coordination and related administrative work.

Scientific Consultant

• Eligibility: Retired Central Government officers from scientific or technical cadres who retired in Level 08 or above.
• Experience: Scientific and technical support in meteorological, atmospheric, climate and allied domains.

Common Conditions

• Experience: At least 2 years of relevant work experience in an equivalent or higher pay level before retirement.
• Age: You must not have attained 63 years on the closing date of application.
• Skills: Good knowledge of MS Word, MS Excel, PowerPoint, communication, noting, drafting and office procedures.
• Conduct: No disciplinary or criminal proceedings should be pending.

Age Limit

• Maximum age: You should not have attained 63 years on the closing date of application.
• Reference date: 7 July 2026.
• Contract limit: Engagement cannot continue beyond 5 years after superannuation.

Salary

• Monthly pay formula: Fixed monthly amount = pay drawn at the time of retirement minus basic pension.
• Dearness Allowance: No increment, percentage increase or DA is payable during the contract period.
• Transport Allowance: Fixed transport allowance may be allowed up to the rate applicable at retirement.
• HRA: No HRA or other allowance is admissible during the contract period.
• Pension: Pension and Dearness Relief continue separately during the engagement.

Working Conditions
