IIT Palakkad has released a notification (Ref: IITPKD/Admin./Adhoc/2025-26/04) inviting online applications for 3 contract posts in its sports section — Sports Coaches across seven disciplines (Athletics, Badminton, Basketball, Cricket, Football, Table Tennis and Volleyball), one Physical Training Instructor, and one Gym Instructor/Weight Lifting Coach. All positions are purely on a contract basis, and completing the contract does not confer any right to extension, regularization, or permanency at the Institute. Who Can Apply?

For Sports Coaches (Part-Time) - Rs. 17,500-20,500/month:

• 12th pass with national/international level sports representation, certificate courses from the respective federation, and 2 years of coaching experience in the relevant sport, OR
• Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education with specialization in the sport and 1 year of coaching experience, OR
• Graduation in any subject with a Diploma in Sports Coaching (from SAI/NS-NIS or a recognized institution) and 1 year of coaching experience

For Physical Training Instructor (Full-Time) - Rs. 40,000/month:

• Master's Degree in Physical Education (or equivalent) with at least 55% marks and 1 year of relevant institute/university experience, OR
• Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education (or equivalent) with at least 55% marks and 3 years of relevant institute/university experience
• Desirable: Diploma in Sports Coaching from SAI/NS-NIS, and proficiency in more than one game

For Gym Instructor/Weight Lifting Coach (Part-Time) - Rs. 17,500-20,500/month:

• 12th pass with national/international level representation in bodybuilding or weightlifting, certificate courses from the respective federation, and 2 years of coaching experience in gym training, OR
• Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education (or equivalent) with 2 years of coaching experience in gym training

Desirable for all posts: Good communication in English and Malayalam, and knowledge of first aid and CPR.

Age Limit

• Sports Coaches (Part-Time): Minimum 21 years, should not have completed 45 years.
• Physical Training Instructor (Full-Time): Maximum 40 years.
• Gym Instructor/Weight Lifting Coach (Part-Time): Minimum 21 years, should not have completed 45 years.

Salary

• Sports Coaches (Part-Time): Rs. 17,500 to Rs. 20,500 per month
• Physical Training Instructor (Full-Time): Rs. 40,000 per month
• Gym Instructor/Weight Lifting Coach (Part-Time): Rs. 17,500 to Rs. 20,500 per month
• Housing, HRA and Travelling allowances will not be provided by the Institute.

Selection Process

The selection will be done in 3 stages:

1. Certificate Verification
2. Trade Test
3. Interview

Contract duration is 10 months for Sports Coaches and Gym Instructor (Part-Time), and 12 months for the Physical Training Instructor (Full-Time). Part-time coaches must work a minimum of 2.5 hours per day for 6 working days per week.

• Maintain sports equipment, gym facilities, and playing fields
• Ensure safety, discipline, and first-aid response during training and events
• Assess student and staff fitness levels and track progress regularly
