IIT Mandi Project Associate or JRF Recruitment 2026: Overview

Indian Institute of Technology Mandi (IIT Mandi) is hiring for a Project Associate, Junior Research Fellow (JRF) or equivalent position in its School of Computing and Electrical Engineering. The contractual role belongs to a Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) funded project led by Dr. Padmanabhan Rajan, with work based at IIT Mandi in Himachal Pradesh.

The project studies score normalization for ECAPA based speaker and language identification models. Its focus is robust verification, linking the research role to speech processing and deep learning in collaboration with a DRDO laboratory.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Initial appointment: Your engagement lasts for one year or until the project ends, whichever comes first. This is a project contract.
• Renewal: Further engagement may run for a few months, a year or up to the project duration. Renewal depends on satisfactory performance, so you should not treat an extension as automatic.
• Project period: The notice describes a project lasting 21 months and ending on 4 March 2028. That project schedule sets the outer context for any renewal.
• Shortlisting: IIT Mandi may set higher criteria than the advertised minimum when deciding whom to consider for the project position.
• Reservation provisions: The institute may allow relaxation in qualifying marks for OBC (NCL), SC, ST and PwD applicants, along with applicable Government of India reservation provisions.
• Retired government employees: If selected, their pay will follow the Government of India rules that apply to their case.
