IIT Indore Project Associate I Recruitment 2026: Overview

Indian Institute of Technology Indore (IIT Indore) is recruiting a Project Associate I for the Department of Physics and the Interdisciplinary Area of Quantum Computing. The role belongs to an Anusandhan National Research Foundation project under the Prime Minister Early Career Research Grant programme, with Dr Shashank Gupta as principal investigator. The project, Multipartite Quantum Cryptography for Quantum Safe Indian Subcontinent, focuses on research that can strengthen secure quantum communication. This is a hands-on theoretical and computational research role, so it suits someone who enjoys combining mathematical work with programming and scientific writing.

Your research will examine multipartite quantum cryptography, including threshold quantum distillation, entanglement-cloning methods and quantum secret-sharing protocols. The work combines analytical derivations and security proofs with circuit and network simulations. You may use Python, QuTiP, Qiskit, NumPy and SciPy, with MATLAB or Mathematica also relevant to the numerical work. Results are expected to support clear technical reports and manuscripts for scientific publications.

The position also offers close exposure to IIT Indore's quantum-computing research environment. The notice says the selected researcher will be encouraged to seek admission to the institute's PhD programme, subject to meeting its separate admission rules. Appointment to this project does not itself guarantee PhD admission, but it can give you relevant research experience before applying.

Service Conditions and Caveats

  • Project tenure: The initial appointment is for one year and may continue for the project's remaining period, up to a total of 30 months, if your performance is satisfactory and funds remain available.
  • Temporary status: The appointment is purely temporary and ends with the project. It does not create a claim to a regular IIT Indore position.
  • Shortlisting: IIT Indore may set a higher screening standard when many applications arrive, and only shortlisted applicants will receive interview details by email.
  • Interview arrangements: The interview may be held online or in hybrid mode. The institute will not pay TA or DA for taking part.
  • Appointment decision: The institute may leave the position unfilled if it does not find a suitable person.

Application Submission Notes
