IIT Hyderabad SATHI Application Specialist Recruitment 2026 - 6 Posts
Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad (IIT Hyderabad) has released notification for 6 Application Specialist posts at the Sophisticated Analytical & Technical Help Institutes - Centre for In-Situ and Correlative Microscopy (SATHI-CISCoM). This DST-funded facility is the first of its kind in India, enabling real-time characterisation across multiple length scales for fundamental and industrial R&D. The centre brings together scientists from physics, chemistry, biology, and pharmaceutical studies, supported by 15 academic, research, and industrial organisations. If you have hands-on experience with advanced microscopy or spectroscopy instruments, this is an excellent opportunity to work with cutting-edge equipment.

Who Can Apply?
Option 1 — With Master's Degree (No Experience Required):
- Qualification: Master's degree in Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science, Metallurgical Engineering, Nanotechnology, Life Sciences, Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or allied areas from a recognised university.
Option 2 — With Bachelor's Degree (Experience Required):
- Qualification: Bachelor's degree in the same disciplines listed above.
- Experience: You need at least 6 months of relevant experience in instrument operation, sample handling, data acquisition, or calibration.
Applicants with hands-on experience in system operation, sample preparation, data acquisition, and routine calibration will be preferred. Experience gained in academic, national laboratory, industrial R&D, or shared facility environments is accepted.
Age Limit
- Maximum age: 35 years as on the last date of application (07 April 2026).
Salary
- Consolidated salary of Rs. 40,000 per month for all 6 posts.
- You may also get a performance-based incentive linked to the number of samples analysed, experiments assisted, instrument uptime, and user training sessions conducted.
- Health Centre facility for self available as per IIT Hyderabad norms for project staff.
Selection Process
Selection will be based on:
- Shortlisting: The Screening Committee will shortlist candidates based on qualifications and experience. Having hands-on experience with the specific instrument you are applying for will give you an advantage.
- Interview: Only shortlisted candidates will be called for interview. Date and mode of interview will be communicated via email.
There is no written exam for these posts. Selection is merit-based through interview.

Responsibilities
- Operate and manage assigned advanced microscopy or spectroscopy instruments on a daily basis
- Prepare samples and execute experimental workflows for internal and external users
- Train and assist researchers, students, and industry clients in using the facility equipment
- Perform routine maintenance, calibration, and upkeep to ensure instruments remain operational
- Maintain detailed usage logs, safety compliance records, and facility documentation
- Coordinate with SATHI-CISCoM management and committees on scheduling and facility operations
Eligibility Criteria
Minimum Qualification
M.Sc./M.Tech or B.Sc./B.Tech with 6 months experience in Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science, Engineering, or allied fields
Preferred Qualification
Hands-on experience with APT, TEM, AFM-TERS, FIB-SEM, FTIR, optical microscopy, or specimen preparation instruments
Required Skills
Instrument operation and parameter optimisation, sample handling and preparation, data acquisition and analysis, calibration
Age Limit
18 - 35 years (as on 07 Apr 2026)

For Bachelor's degree holders, minimum 6 months relevant experience required. For Master's degree holders, no experience required. Experience in academic, national laboratory, industrial R&D, or shared facility environments is accepted.
