IGNTU Project Assistant Recruitment 2026: Overview

Indira Gandhi National Tribal University (IGNTU) is engaging a Project Assistant in its Department of Geology at Amarkantak, Madhya Pradesh. The position supports a Ministry of Mines-sponsored study titled “Unlocking Critical Metals from Deccan Laterites: Geochemical Controls and Sustainable Recovery of Ni–Co–Sc–REE in Eastern Madhya Pradesh”. This is a hands-on earth-science role for someone who wants experience across field investigation, laboratory work and geochemical interpretation.

The project examines critical metals in Deccan laterites and connects their geological controls with sustainable recovery. Your work will sit between sample collection, analytical data and scientific interpretation, so careful record-keeping matters as much as field readiness. Familiarity with trace elements, rare earth element geochemistry and the interpretation of laboratory datasets will help you contribute sooner.

The notification specifically values exposure to XRF, ICP-MS and geochemical datasets, along with a basic understanding of critical mineral exploration and extractive metallurgy. It also expects the selected person to travel when the study needs field visits, sampling, laboratory analysis or scientific meetings. This mix makes the post useful for an early-career geologist seeking practical research experience beyond classroom work.

Service Conditions and Caveats

  • Project tenure: The appointment is purely temporary and co-terminus with the sponsored project. It creates no claim to a regular post at IGNTU or the Ministry of Mines.
  • Shortlisting: Meeting the basic qualification does not guarantee a call. The Screening Committee's decision on shortlisting and selection is final.
  • Field readiness: You should be willing to travel for geological investigations, sample collection, laboratory analysis and scientific meetings whenever the project needs it.
  • Confidentiality: The selected person must protect project information and handle research material responsibly.
  • Application conduct: Canvassing or giving false information can lead to disqualification. Keep every academic and experience claim accurate and supportable.
  • Original records: Shortlisted applicants must be ready to show their original academic, experience and other relevant records at the interview and joining stages.

Application Submission Notes

Send the filled application with your supporting material to the Principal Investigator at meraj.alam@igntu.ac.in. Use a clear subject line that names the Project Assistant post and the geology project, and make sure your contact details are active. Shortlisted applicants will receive the online interview information by email or telephone, so watch both channels after applying.

Before sending the email, check that the form, bio-data and supporting copies are readable and consistent. A concise note explaining your fit with geological fieldwork, analytical methods or critical-mineral research can help the screening team understand your background without searching through unrelated material.

Responsibilities

  • Support geological field investigations and collect project samples
  • Prepare samples and assist with laboratory analysis work
  • Organise XRF, ICP-MS, and geochemical datasets for interpretation
