Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education, Institute of Forest Productivity (ICFRE-IFP), Ranchi, is recruiting research and field staff for grassland ecology and mine restoration projects. Posts and Disciplines

Post-wise Duties

Research Associate I

You will review grassland carrying capacity and study climatic, soil and ecological factors. The work also covers plant traits, forest ecology, grassland mapping and modelling using remote sensing, geographic information systems and data analysis, alongside field data collection.

Field Assistant in the Grassland Project

You will help with vegetation and field surveys, forest ecology and ethnobotanical work. The notice also assigns data collection, analysis and report preparation to this role.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Project periods: The grassland project runs during 2025-2028 and the Gua Ore Mine project during 2025-2030. These are project periods, not a guarantee that your appointment will last for the entire period.
• Tenure: Engagements are time-bound and end with the project. The competent authority may shorten or extend the tentative tenure, and appointment orders depend on funding and approval.
• Posting: You may be sent to a project site when the work needs it. For the mine restoration project, the notice specifically mentions posting in mining areas.
• Employment status: The engagement follows ICFRE project-staff rules and does not promise later employment at any institute under the council.
• Early departure: If you wish to leave before the agreed term ends, you must give one month of notice.
• Termination: The project authorities may end the engagement based on performance. The organisation can also cancel the recruitment process.
• Incorrect claims: If you do not meet the requirements, your candidature can be cancelled even after selection. The notice also provides for recovery of payments received during service with interest in such a case.
