ICAR-National Research Centre for Orchids (ICAR-NRCO), Pakyong, Sikkim has released walk-in interview notification number F.No: NRC(O)/ADMN/27(A)/2026-27 for 5 contractual research posts. The SRF post is linked to the DUS Project and needs NET qualification. Age Limit
- Senior Research Fellow: Maximum 35 years for men and 40 years for women

Salary
- Senior Research Fellow (DUS Project): Rs. 37,000 per month (Year 1-2) + HRA; Rs. 42,000 per month (Year 3 onwards) + HRA — as per ICAR norms
- Young Professional-I (all 4 disciplines): Rs. 30,000 per month (consolidated)
- HRA for SRF is given as per ICAR norms and is subject to revision from time to time

Selection Process (No Written Exam)
Selection is based on the following stages:
- Shortlisting: Candidates are shortlisted based on merit — academic scores and relevant experience
- Walk-in Interview: Shortlisted candidates are called for interview via email, one week before the interview date. Mode is hybrid (Online via Zoom or Offline at ICAR-NRCO, Pakyong, Sikkim) — you must choose at the time of application and it cannot be changed later
- Document Verification: Original documents will be verified at the time of joining for selected candidates
Note: No TA/DA will be paid for attending the offline interview at Pakyong. Only one interview will be held even if you apply for more than one post.

Responsibilities
- Assist Principal Investigator on the DUS (Distinctness, Uniformity, Stability) project for orchid varieties
- Conduct laboratory and field experiments in plant biochemistry, genetics, breeding, or biotechnology as per the assigned discipline
- Collect, record, and analyse experimental data from orchid research trials
- Prepare research reports, technical documents, and progress notes for the project
- Assist scientists in molecular biology, phytochemistry, and tissue culture experiments
- Support extension activities, farmer interactions, and field surveys for social sciences work
- Maintain records of experiments, samples, and project consumables as per institute protocols
Eligibility Criteria
Minimum Qualification
B.Sc (Horticulture/Agriculture/Food Technology) for Young Professional-I; M.Sc (PGR/PBG/Horticulture) with NET for SRF
Preferred Qualification
M.Sc in relevant discipline; Ph.D for SRF post
Required Skills
Research aptitude, laboratory skills, knowledge of plant breeding/biochemistry/biotechnology/agricultural extension as per discipline
Age Limit
21 - 45 years
