Post-wise Duties

Specialists and Super Specialists

As a full-time specialist, you remain responsible for patients treated under your supervision in your discipline. The notice includes emergency attendance and on-call availability in the working conditions. Part-time engagements have a defined weekly attendance commitment, with additional work subject to the Medical Superintendent's approval.

Senior Residents

You will work under ESIC's Senior Residency norms in the assigned department. The notice refers to these norms rather than setting out a separate daily task list for each resident specialty.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Full-time tenure: The initial specialist and super specialist contract runs for one year or until a regular appointee joins, whichever happens first. Continued engagement can extend to three years, with yearly review and satisfactory performance.
• Part-time tenure: The specialist and super specialist engagement runs for one year or until a regular appointee joins, whichever happens first. Part-time specialists have no leave or benefit entitlement under the stated conditions.
• Resident tenure: Senior resident engagements under this notice are for one year.
• Private practice: Full-time specialists cannot undertake private practice. They must also remain available on call around the clock.
• Leave: Full-time specialists receive four days of leave per month of work, calculated proportionately. Unused leave can be encashed up to the stated annual ceiling of 30 days.
• Professional cover: Selected specialists need professional indemnity insurance covering their engagement. The required cover varies by specialty and protects against professional liability arising from errors or omissions.
• Reservation: If nobody from the advertised reserved category is available, the hospital may engage an unreserved candidate for 45 days. Disability suitability depends on the specialty and the notice's Annexure 1.
• Changes and expenses: The Medical Superintendent can change the requirements or cancel recruitment. You will not receive travel or daily allowance for attending. Any corrigendum will appear on the hospital website; the English version controls if the bilingual text is unclear.
