Post-wise Duties

Specialists

As a full-time Specialist, you take responsibility for patients treated under your supervision in your discipline and attend emergencies when needed. Part-time Specialists work to a schedule fixed by the hospital; if you receive emergency-call payments, you must remain available on call.

Senior Residents

The Medical Superintendent assigns your clinical and emergency duties. You need written permission before taking leave from your engagement and must inform the Superintendent promptly if illness or an accident prevents attendance.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Contract period: Appointments begin for one year and may end earlier when a regular incumbent joins. Further renewal depends on satisfactory performance. You cannot claim regularisation through this engagement.
• Working arrangements: Full-time Specialists work from 9 AM to 4 PM on weekdays and until 1 PM on Saturdays, with round-the-clock on-call availability. Part-time work normally covers 16 hours a week across four days.
• Private practice and accommodation: Full-time Specialists cannot practise privately. The hospital will not provide hostel accommodation or quarters.
• Leaving the contract: Either side must give one month's notice, or the relevant party must meet the notice-payment condition. Leaving without notice can also lead to forfeiture of the joining security deposit.
• Professional cover: You must hold the professional indemnity insurance specified for your discipline and provide the policy and premium receipt within seven days of engagement.
• Attendance: Senior Resident engagement follows a no-work-no-pay condition. Absence for 15 days without permission counts as abandonment of the engagement.
• Reserved posts: If a suitable reserved-category applicant is unavailable, the notice permits short Specialist engagements under its stated central-government provisions. The hospital can revise or cancel openings.
• Travel: You must meet your own travel and daily expenses for attending the interview.
