The University of Delhi has released Advertisement No. R&P/321/2026 dated 31 July 2026, inviting applications for 56 Associate Professor posts across nine departments — Chemistry, Environmental Studies, Genetics, Geology, Hindi, Linguistics, Operational Research, Philosophy, and Zoology. As per category-wise reservation, 17 of the 56 posts are reserved for OBC candidates, with additional reservation for SC, ST, EWS and PwBD candidates as per government norms. This is a strong opportunity for experienced academics with a good publication record who want a permanent faculty position at one of India's top central universities.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: PhD in the relevant discipline, along with a Master's Degree with at least 55% marks (relaxed to 50% for SC/ST/OBC/PwBD/Third Gender candidates).
• Experience: At least 8 years of teaching or research experience in a university, college, or recognised research establishment.
• Publications: At least 7 research publications in the relevant discipline.
• Research Score: A minimum Academic/Research Score of 75, as per UGC norms.

Salary

• Selected Associate Professors will get a starting salary of Rs. 1,31,400 per month under Academic Pay Level-13A of the 7th Central Pay Commission (UGC Scale).
• You will also get DA, HRA and other allowances as per University of Delhi and UGC norms.

Selection Process

The selection will be done in 3 stages:

1. Screening: All applications are screened against the Academic/Research Score. You need a minimum score of 75 to qualify.
2. Shortlisting: At least 30 candidates are shortlisted for the first vacancy in each category, plus 10 more candidates for every additional vacancy (including tied scores).
3. Presentation and Interview: Shortlisted candidates give a presentation before the Selection Committee (graded A to D), followed by a personal interview.
