Recruitment and Assessment Centre (RAC), DRDO Chairperson Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

The Recruitment and Assessment Centre (RAC) is an independent, self-accounting unit of the Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO) under the Ministry of Defence, Government of India. RAC handles recruitment, assessment, and training of DRDO scientists on a regular basis, and also extends similar selection services to the Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA) and other allied agencies. RAC was set up on 23 July 1985 after DRDO was exempted from the purview of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). RAC is now inviting applications from eminent professionals with an established, proven track record for the post of Chairperson, under Advertisement No. 158. The Chairperson is mainly responsible for formulating recruitment and assessment policies for DRDO and ADA scientists, and for guiding selection committees to ensure objectivity and confidentiality across all selection activities.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: You should be an eminent retired or serving Scientist, Technologist, Academician, or Civil Servant.
• Level: You must have reached the level of Secretary to the Government of India (Pay Level 17 of the 7th CPC Pay Matrix, Rs. 2,25,000).
• Track Record: An established and proven track record in your field is required.

Salary

• Basic pay (less pension): Rs. 1,12,500 per month, at Pay Level 17 of the 7th CPC.
• You will also get DA on basic pay, accommodation or HRA, a staff car, and reimbursement for newspaper, telephone, and briefcase/office bag expenses (once every 3 years).

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

The selection will be done as follows:

1. Appointment Mode: The Chairperson is appointed on re-employment on a contract basis.
2. Search-cum-Selection Committee: A high-level committee appointed by the Government of India, following DoP&T instructions, will select the Chairperson with the approval of the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC).
3. Undertaking: You must submit an undertaking as part of your biodata that you will join the post if selected. Biodata without this undertaking will be summarily rejected.
