DHS Thanjavur Staff Nurse Recruitment 2026: Overview

District Health Society Thanjavur (DHS Thanjavur), the district health and family welfare society, is hiring Staff Nurses on a contractual, temporary basis under the National Health Mission – Tamil Nadu. The drive follows G.O. No. 258 of the Health and Family Welfare (EAP.II/2) Department, which cleared these vacant nursing posts for filling at district level.

You will be placed in one of the public health facilities run in Thanjavur district: the Government Medical College Hospital, the government hospitals, the upgraded and additional government primary health centres, or the urban primary health centres. This is a district-level engagement, so expect to work where the society places you inside Thanjavur.

If you hold a GNM diploma or a B.Sc Nursing degree and are already registered with the Tamil Nadu Nurses and Midwives Council, this is a good way to get hands-on experience in a busy government health network close to home. Registration with the council is compulsory, so keep your registration number ready before you fill the form.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Nature of the job: The posts are purely contractual and temporary. They will not be converted into regular government posts for any reason, and you must sign a declaration on the form accepting this.
• Minimum service: You are expected to work for at least two years once you join.
• Contract renewal: Your contract runs in 11-month cycles. At the end of each cycle, the National Health Mission contract rules allow renewal only after a performance review.
• Joining papers: Selected nurses must hand in a voluntary joining undertaking and an 11-month contract letter.
• Number of posts: The number of vacancies announced can change.
• Final decision: The selection committee's decision on who gets appointed is final.
• Conduct certificate: You need a character and good-conduct certificate issued within the last three months by a Group A or Group B officer serving in a government office.
