DFO Kalahandi GIS Specialist Recruitment 2026: Overview

The Office of the Divisional Forest Officer (DFO), Kalahandi North Division is engaging a GIS Specialist-cum-Drone Operator for elephant-population monitoring and management. The role uses drones and other modern equipment for work in the division, with a base at Bhawanipatna, Odisha. This is a temporary, fixed-term engagement linking Geographic Information System (GIS) work with wildlife monitoring and human-animal conflict studies.

Service Conditions and Caveats

  • Tenure: The appointment runs for up to five months and depends on satisfactory performance. The office has no obligation to continue the engagement beyond its terms.
  • Relocation: You must be willing to move to Bhawanipatna if selected. The position is attached to Kalahandi North Forest Division, so accepting it means being available for the division’s work.
  • Joining commitment: You must agree to join your place of work within seven days of the acceptance letter being issued. The application includes a declaration covering this commitment.
  • Working hours: Normal duty covers the office’s opening-to-closing hours. The DFO may also ask you to work on off days or beyond those hours when needed.
  • Leave: The notice states an annual allowance of 11 days of casual leave, with the DFO’s prior permission.
  • Ending the engagement: The office can discontinue your service with one month of prior notice, without giving a reason. Continued engagement is therefore subject to the terms of the appointment.
  • Ownership of work: The government owns the collected data, and the division owns the documents, reports and scientific papers produced through the work. You cannot use or share this material outside the organisation without permission.
  • Personal devices: Transfer project data recorded on a personal phone or camera promptly to the division’s computer or hard disk. Do not retain division or project data on your personal devices.
  • Recruitment decision: The DFO can select or reject an applicant and can cancel the advertisement without providing a reason.
