CSIR-National Institute of Oceanography Project Associate-I Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post
CSIR-National Institute of Oceanography (CSIR-NIO) has released a temporary vacancy notification (Vacancy Number SSP003765/3193-26) for the post of Project Associate-I. The role focuses on field work, sediment and water sampling, numerical modelling, and report writing. You should be ready to take part in cruises and coastal field work. - You must have an M.Sc in Marine Science, OR
- M.Sc in Oceanography, OR
- M.Sc in Physical Oceanography, OR
- M.Sc in Space Science and Technology
Desirable Skills

- Met-ocean instrument handling and data processing
- Report writing ability
- Experience in oceanographic data collection in coastal areas and rivers
Other Requirements
- You must be ready to frequently participate in cruise onboard ships and boats for field work
- NET/GATE qualification (if any) should be mentioned in the application
Stipend
- Stipend: Rs. 25,000 per month (consolidated)
- Duration of engagement: 6 months

Selection is based on:

- Interview: Shortlisted candidates are called for a personal or online interview by the project leader
- Document Verification: Originals are checked at the time of joining

Responsibilities
- Take part in field work and collect sediment and water samples from coastal areas and rivers
- Process sediment samples and prepare them for laboratory analysis
- Handle data collection, retrieval, processing, and analysis from met-ocean instruments
- Run numerical models using Python and other scientific tools
- Prepare technical reports and project documents for the project leader
- Participate in cruises on ships and boats whenever required
- Assist senior scientists with any other duties linked to the project

Minimum Qualification
M.Sc in Marine Science / Oceanography / Physical Oceanography / Space Science & Technology
Preferred Qualification
Python programming, numerical modelling, met-ocean instrument handling, oceanographic data collection in coastal and river settings, report writing
