CBSE CTET Recruitment 2026: Overview
Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) conducts the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) for people seeking teaching eligibility for Classes I to VIII. The examination is run by the CTET Unit for the Ministry of Education and sets a common teacher-quality benchmark for central-government schools and other schools that accept CTET. This notice gives another application opportunity for the 22nd edition after the original registration window closed, mainly helping teachers who still need the prescribed TET qualification. CTET is an eligibility test, not a direct offer of a teaching appointment.
Posts and Disciplines
- Paper I: Choose this paper when you want eligibility to teach Classes I to V. Its focus combines child development, primary-level mathematics, environmental studies and two languages.
- Paper II: Choose this paper when you want eligibility to teach Classes VI to VIII. You select either mathematics and science or social studies and social science alongside pedagogy and two languages.
- Both papers: Select both when your teaching goal covers Classes I to VIII. You must meet the applicable teacher-education rules for each level you choose.
Service Conditions and Caveats
- Purpose of the certificate: Passing CTET supports your eligibility for teacher recruitment, but it does not guarantee a job or create a right to appointment.
- Certificate validity: The qualifying certificate remains valid for life, and you may take CTET again if you want to improve your score.
- Eligibility check: CBSE lets you sit the test based on the information you provide; the recruiting school or appointing authority makes the final check later.
- Exam allocation: CBSE assigns the examination city, and it may also allot the examination day when more than one day is used. Requests to change that allocation are not accepted.
- Language choice: You choose two different languages, with Language I linked to the medium of instruction and Language II testing communication and comprehension.
- Result rules: The answer key can be challenged during the notified window, but there is no rechecking or re-evaluation after the result.
Application Submission Notes
Use the official CTET online portal and keep the generated confirmation page for your records. You do not need to send that page to the CTET Unit. If your earlier application was already completed and submitted successfully, do not apply again during the reopened window.
Corrigenda and Notices
- Reopened registration: CBSE added a short fresh window after the Supreme Court highlighted the need to give teachers a reasonable chance to meet the statutory TET requirement.
- Schedule update: The earlier examination schedule is no longer final; CBSE will announce the revised examination date after the reopened portal closes.
Responsibilities
