CAU Imphal OSD Works Recruitment 2026: Overview

Central Agricultural University (CAU), Imphal is looking for a senior civil engineer to work as its Officer on Special Duty (OSD) for Works. The post sits at the university headquarters in Imphal, Manipur, and it is a contract engagement, not a regular appointment.

The rules are written for a very specific profile: someone who has spent many years in the Executive Engineer (Civil) grade in government service and has also finished formal training in higher administration and legal matters. If you are a fresh or mid-level engineer, this post is not meant for you — but if you have led works divisions for a long time, it is a chance to bring that experience to a central university.

The first term is short, and the university will decide on an extension after looking at how the work is going and how you perform. Selection is through an interview of shortlisted candidates only.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Contract term: The first appointment is for 179 days. It may be extended later, depending on satisfactory performance and the needs of the university.
• Ending the contract: Either side can end the contract at any time with one month's notice. The university can also end it at once by paying you one month's agreed pay instead of notice.
• Fixed pay: You get a fixed monthly amount; all other service conditions follow the university's existing rules for contract appointments.
• Place of work: CAU Headquarters, Imphal.
• Interview call: Only shortlisted candidates get a call letter, which will carry the date, time and venue of the interview.
• Travel: No TA/DA is paid for attending the interview — you must arrange your own travel to Imphal.
• Rejection rules: Late, incomplete or wrongly formatted applications, or those without the needed documents, can be rejected without notice.
• University's rights: CAU may choose not to fill the post, or withdraw the advertisement fully or partly by putting a notice on its website. The university's selection decision is final and no interim correspondence will be entertained.

Application Submission Notes

You can apply offline or online, but both routes use the same Annexure-I application form attached to the notice. For the offline route, post the filled form with your documents to The Registrar, Central Agricultural University, Imphal – 795004, and write "OSD (Works)" on the envelope.

For the online route, the university's recruitment page asks for your name, email and the post, and lets you upload a scanned copy of the filled form with supporting documents as one PDF (maximum 30 MB). Applications must reach the university by 4:30 PM on the closing day.

The form asks for your full employment history with pay level and nature of duties, the training courses you have attended, and your APARs for the last five years, so collect these before you start.
