BPSC School Teacher Recruitment 2026: Overview
The Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) is conducting the fourth Teacher Recruitment Examination, TRE 4.0, for regular School Teacher appointments under Bihar's Education Department. The recruitment covers primary, middle, secondary and senior secondary schools across the state. Advertisement 15/2026 replaces the earlier advertisement 14/2026, so use the current notice when checking the terms for your chosen school level and subject.
Posts and Disciplines
- Primary School Teacher: The foundational school cadre includes general, Urdu and Bangla teaching posts. These belong to the primary-school establishment under the Education Department.
- Middle School Teacher: This cadre separates mathematics and science, social science, and language subjects. Hindi, English, Sanskrit and Urdu appear in the notified subject roster.
- Secondary School Teacher: The secondary cadre includes languages, mathematics, science, social science, physical education and music. The notice also explains provisions for special-school teaching and subjects awaiting supplementary requisitions.
- Senior Secondary School Teacher: This cadre covers subject-specialist teaching in science, humanities, languages and commerce, alongside subjects such as computer science and music. Commerce has distinct entrepreneurship, accountancy and business-study streams.
Service Conditions and Caveats
- Cadre preferences: If you qualify for more than one school level, record your order of preference in a single application. Under the notice's one-applicant-one-result rule, success at a higher preference ends consideration for your lower preferences.
- District allocation: BPSC conducts the recruitment examination and publishes results, while the Education Department handles district allocation. Your examination application does not itself settle where you will be posted.
- Bihar reservation: State reservation benefits apply to Bihar residents under the prescribed rules. Make the claim in the relevant application field; leaving it out prevents you from claiming the benefit later.
- Schooling provision: The notice earmarks 40% of posts for applicants who passed matriculation or intermediate from institutions within Bihar, including undivided Bihar under its stated provision. Unfilled places in this share may pass to suitable applicants from the remaining pool.
- Provisional recommendation: A commission recommendation does not by itself create a right to appointment. The Education Department can revise the provisional merit list after checking the claims made in applications.
- Changing requisitions: The department may revise the notified openings. Check the district, subject and category rosters for your choice, including any supplementary roster issued for subjects identified in the notice.
- False records: If certificates are found to be false, the appointment can be cancelled and salary already paid can be recovered, alongside other legal action.
