About This Job

Apply for 1 Research Associate post in BITS Pilani WILP. PhD in Education eligible. Last date: 6 Sep 2026. Apply online at bits-pilani.ac.in.

BITS Pilani Research Associate WILP 2026: Overview

Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani (BITS Pilani) is hiring a Research Associate for its Work Integrated Learning Programmes within Off-campus Programmes and Industry Engagement, with the role based in Hyderabad. WILP has delivered continuing education to working professionals since its establishment in 1979, and the unit now works across more than forty-six programmes with a large community of current learners and graduates. The associate will study how teaching, learning and related academic processes perform in practice, combining experimental design, systematic data collection, analysis and clear documentation. This is a regular, full-time academic-research role for someone who wants to turn evidence from education studies into useful findings for faculty, programme teams and external partners.

Service Conditions and Caveats

  • Reporting line: the Research Associate reports to the Dean of WILP and works within the institute's off-campus and industry-engagement structure.
  • Work base: the position is located in Hyderabad, even though BITS Pilani also operates campuses and centres in other cities.
  • Research focus: studies are expected to examine teaching-learning effectiveness and the academic processes around it, using a planned design rather than informal feedback alone.
  • Literature work: you will keep track of emerging research and good practices in teaching and learning, then present useful findings periodically to the programme team.
  • Coordination: the role works closely with faculty, operations teams, students, participating organisations, industry contacts and alumni, so clear follow-up is part of the job.
  • External collaboration: the job description names organisations and publishers such as ASEE, ICDE and WACE as potential channels for sharing study outcomes.
  • Publication responsibility: research outputs may be prepared as journal or conference articles, while internal findings may also appear in a newsletter, magazine or teaching-learning website.
  • Working style: you will need to combine careful quantitative and qualitative work with active listening, objective reasoning and attention to detail when dealing with study participants.
  • Meeting follow-up: periodic review meetings are part of the assignment, and their outcomes need to be recorded so academic teams can track decisions and next actions.
  • Study participants: coordination may include identifying suitable participants, keeping communication clear and helping faculty members who are running pilot projects.
  • Evidence handling: findings should come from documented methods and organised data, allowing the institute to understand what works across its teaching-learning processes.
  • Communication channels: besides formal research papers, the role may use internal publications or a dedicated website to make useful learning insights accessible to the wider programme community.

Responsibilities

  • Assess teaching-learning and academic processes through structured studies
  • Design studies and manage systematic data collection and analysis
  • Review education research and present emerging practices to the team
  • Organize review meetings and document decisions and follow-up actions
  • Coordinate with study participants, faculty, students, and partner organizations
  • Prepare journal articles, conference papers, and reports from study outcomes
  • Manage teaching-learning content for internal newsletters, magazines, or websites
