About This Job

BHU Senior Research Fellow Recruitment 2026: Overview

Banaras Hindu University (BHU) is recruiting a Senior Research Fellow in the Department of Molecular and Human Genetics, Institute of Science. The fellowship supports a DBT-funded project examining exosomal differences under Parkinson's disease stress conditions and ways to limit dopaminergic neuronal cell death and neuroinflammation. It is a specialised research role for a life-science postgraduate who already has meaningful laboratory experience.

The project combines neurobiology, molecular biology and cell biology. Its stated work points toward studying how cell-derived exosomes differ during disease-related stress and testing approaches that may influence harmful neuronal and inflammatory responses. Candidates who have worked with Parkinson's disease models, neuronal cultures or related molecular methods will be especially relevant to the research group.

This is not a general university fellowship. The department is looking for someone who can contribute quickly to primary cell culture, induced pluripotent stem-cell work and functional neurobiology assays. Your evidence of hands-on work, research techniques and publications can therefore be as important as the degree itself during screening.

Service Conditions and Caveats

  • Project appointment: the fellowship is purely temporary and co-terminus with the sanctioned research project.
  • Maximum project period: the project can run for up to three years, but the appointment remains subject to the project's continuation and needs.
  • Screening focus: experience with primary cell cultures, iPSCs, neurobiology assays, Parkinson's disease research and molecular-biology methods will be used when applications are screened.
  • Interview communication: only shortlisted candidates will receive an email inviting them to an in-person interview at the Department of Molecular and Human Genetics.
  • Travel costs: the university will not pay travel or daily allowance for attending the interview.

The fellowship ends with the project and does not create a claim to a regular BHU post. You should treat it as fixed-term research experience built around the project's scientific goals and funding period.

Application Submission Notes

Apply through the Google Form linked in the official notice; no hard copy is needed. Upload a complete bio-data record with your education and research experience, along with readable self-attested copies of the relevant marksheets, degrees and supporting documents.

If you mention research experience, technical expertise or publications, upload evidence that allows the screening team to assess it. The notice makes these practical strengths part of the screening criteria, so a brief claim without a supporting certificate, publication or other record may not help your application.

The interview, if you are shortlisted, will take place in the Department of Molecular and Human Genetics at BHU's Institute of Science in Varanasi. Monitor the email address entered in the form, including its spam folder, because the department will use email to contact shortlisted applicants.

Before sending the form, check that your academic specialisation, qualifying-exam status and research record are entered consistently. No postal copy follows the online form, making the uploaded application the department's main record for screening.

  • Analyse research data and keep clear experimental records
  • Prepare progress reports, figures and publication material for the project
