Bharathiar University is hiring 1 Director for its DRDO Industry Academia Centre of Excellence (DIA-CoE) in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. Bharathiar University DRDO Industry Academia Centre of Excellence (DIA-CoE) Director Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has signed an MoU with Bharathiar University, Coimbatore, to set up the DRDO Industry Academia Centre of Excellence (DIA-CoE) for directed research. The centre focuses on Biosensors and Counter Measure Evaluations, Environmental Toxicity Management, Respiratory Support for Extreme Environments, and Natural Polymers and Fibres for Defence Applications. The Director will be the administrative and executive head of the centre, responsible for strategic guidance, building industry-academia collaborations, and driving research aligned with DRDO's future technology needs. The initial appointment is for 3 years, extendable by 2 more years based on performance review, and either side can end the engagement with 3 months' notice.

Who Can Apply?

• Essential Qualification: Doctoral or Master's Degree in Engineering, Technology, or Science from a recognized university, or equivalent.
• Experience: You need 25 years of experience in technology domains, including defence-related technical work.
• Desirable: Experience in setting up large research facilities, strategic research planning, technology transfer, and collaborative projects across labs, academia, and industry.
• Desirable: A strong record of defence-related research, publications, and patents, or experience coordinating academic-industry research projects.

Age Limit

• Your age should be below 62 years as on the closing date of application (3 September 2026).

Salary

• Retired Central/State Government employees (covered under OPS/NPS) will be paid based on a pension-offset formula, as per the Department of Expenditure's rules.
• Non-government candidates (without government pension benefits) will get Rs. 1,75,000 to Rs. 2,00,000 per month, based on experience.
• Accommodation, medical benefits, or other incentives may be provided as per Bharathiar University norms and availability.

Selection Process

Selection is based on the following:
