APWD is hiring 1 Architect on a deputation (ISTC) basis for 2 years in the Andaman & Nicobar Administration. Andaman Public Works Department (APWD) Architect Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

The Andaman Public Works Department (APWD), under the Andaman & Nicobar Administration, has invited applications for 1 post of Architect in the General Central Services, Group A Gazetted (Non-Ministerial) cadre. The post will be filled on deputation (ISTC) basis for an initial period of 02 years, which may be extended as per rules. Officers from the Central Government, State Governments, Union Territory Administrations, Autonomous or Statutory Organisations, Public Sector Undertakings, or recognised Universities/Institutes/Research Institutions can apply. You will be posted at Sri Vijaya Puram (formerly Port Blair) in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands.

Who Can Apply?

Service Conditions (any one)

  • You must be holding an analogous post on a regular basis in your parent cadre or department, OR
  • You must have 5 years of regular service at Level-9 or Level-10 in the Pay Matrix (or equivalent) in your parent cadre or department.

Educational Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Architecture from a recognised University or Institute
  • 1 year experience in Town Planning, Civic Designing, or Building Control Regulations
  • Fellowship or Membership of the Indian Institute of Architects
  • Passed a Certificate or Diploma course in Auto CAD, Architectural CAD, Revit, or any other software application for architectural illustration or rendering

Age Limit

  • Maximum age: 56 years as on the closing date of receipt of applications
  • The total period of deputation (including any earlier deputation in another ex-cadre post) should not exceed 4 years

Salary

  • Pay: Pay Level-11 (Rs. 67,700 - Rs. 2,08,700) per month as per the 7th CPC Pay Matrix
  • Dearness Allowance (DA) as admissible
  • Special Compensatory Allowance and Island Special Allowance as per rules
  • Rent-free unfurnished accommodation subject to general review
  • Free sea passage once a year for self and family while proceeding or returning from leave
  • Deputation allowance as admissible under rules
  • You can either get your pay fixed in the deputation post or draw the pay of your parent department plus deputation allowance

Selection Process

The selection will be done in the following stages:

Responsibilities

  • Prepare architectural drawings, designs, and plans for government buildings and infrastructure projects in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands
  • Handle town planning, civic designing, and building control work for the A&N Administration
  • Review and approve building plans submitted by departments and public bodies
  • Use software like Auto CAD, Archi CAD, and Revit to produce technical drawings and 3D renderings
  • Advise the Chief Engineer and senior officers on architectural matters and design standards
  • Coordinate with civil, electrical, and mechanical engineering teams on building projects
  • Monitor the quality of architectural work executed by contractors and consultants

Eligibility Criteria

Minimum Qualification

Bachelor's Degree in Architecture from a recognised University or Institute, with Fellowship/Membership of the Indian Institute of Architects

Preferred Qualification

Certificate or Diploma in Auto CAD, Archi CAD, Revit, or other software application for architectural illustration or rendering
