ALA Secretariat Multi-Post Recruitment 2026: Overview

Assam Legislative Assembly Secretariat is recruiting a Hindi Reporter and Hindi, Bengali and Karbi Translators for its work in Dispur, Guwahati. These contractual roles support the Assembly's multilingual proceedings and records, where accurate reporting and translation help members and the public follow legislative business. The recruitment brings reporting, language and computer-based document work into one combined notice.

The Hindi Reporter role is built around fast and accurate Hindi stenography, followed by readable Hindi DTP output. The translator roles call for careful movement between Assamese and English and the language attached to each post. Parliamentary context matters across the team because speeches, debates and official material must retain their meaning, tone and procedural terms.

Posts and Disciplines

  • Hindi Reporter: Capture Assembly proceedings in Hindi shorthand and prepare clean Hindi text through DTP; knowledge of parliamentary functioning is an advantage.
  • Hindi Translator: Translate legislative and administrative material involving Hindi, Assamese and English while preserving the meaning of the original record.
  • Bengali Translator: Work with Bengali, Assamese and English material; reporting experience with Bengali newspapers can strengthen your profile.
  • Karbi Translator: Handle Karbi language and literature alongside Assamese and English for records that need dependable multilingual treatment.

Post-wise Duties

Hindi Reporter

You will listen closely during proceedings, take Hindi stenographic notes, and turn them into an organised digital record. Accuracy is important because legislative reporting must preserve the speaker's meaning and the sequence of discussion.

You will also use Hindi DTP tools to prepare clear text for review and official use. The work combines live reporting pressure with careful editing after the sitting.

Hindi Translator

You will translate Assembly material involving Hindi, Assamese and English and check that legislative terms remain consistent. The role needs both language confidence and the judgement to avoid changing the sense of a speech or document.

Bengali Translator

You will prepare dependable versions of material across Bengali, Assamese and English. Familiarity with reporting language can help you handle quotations, public statements and formal Assembly content without making the result sound unnatural.

Karbi Translator

You will work with Karbi, Assamese and English language material and help make the Secretariat's records usable across these languages. Your translation should be faithful, readable and consistent with the institutional context.

Service Conditions and Caveats

  • Tenure: The engagement begins for six months and may be extended when the Secretariat still needs the work.
  • Temporary status: The appointments are purely temporary and contractual; the Secretariat may end an engagement without giving a reason.
  • Travel costs: The Secretariat will not pay TA or DA for attending a test or interview.
  • Language fit: Each role needs the language combination attached to that post, with Assamese and English forming the common working base.
  • Application completeness: An incomplete online form can be rejected, so make sure every uploaded credential is clear and relevant.
  • Recruitment updates: Shortlists, call details and admit-card information will appear on the Assembly Secretariat website. The office will not provide individual correspondence during the process.
