Agartala Government Medical College (AGMC) and GBP Hospital are hiring project staff for the Virus Research and Diagnostic Laboratory (VRDL) in the Department of Microbiology at Kunjaban, Agartala. The laboratory works under the Department of Health Research and Indian Council of Medical Research scheme for strengthening laboratories that respond to epidemics and national calamities. Post-wise Duties

Research Scientist-B Medical

You will test clinical samples using molecular and serological methods, check reports and keep laboratory quality records. You will also work with state health teams during outbreak investigations and surveillance, and help collect samples.

Your work includes supervising technical staff, following biosafety practices and managing biomedical waste safely. You will upload testing data to the designated portals, prepare progress reports and contribute to research analysis and manuscripts.

Multi-Tasking Staff

You will keep laboratory areas and workbenches clean, wash and sterilise reusable items, and help separate and process biomedical waste. You will also move samples, files and consumables within the institution and assist technical staff with daily laboratory work and stocks.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Initial term: The appointment starts with a one-year term. An extension depends on your performance and whether the project continues.
• Project funding: Your engagement ends when the project closes or finishes. It can also end earlier if the funding agency stops providing funds.
• Regular appointment: This engagement gives you no claim to a regular post or absorption at AGMC, the Tripura government or the funding bodies.
• Employee benefits: Provident Fund, pension, Leave Travel Concession, medical reimbursement and staff quarters are not available under these appointments. Leave follows the council's project-staff policy.
• Ending the contract: Either side can end the engagement with one month's notice or one month's pay instead of notice.
• Travel costs: You will not receive travel or daily allowances for attending the interview or aptitude test.
• Recruitment discretion: The authority may cancel the drive, fill fewer posts or reject an application. Trying to influence the process can disqualify you.
