Udupi Cochin Shipyard Limited (UCSL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) under the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, has released a notification for 3 Assistant Manager (Materials) posts on regular rolls. The vacancies are split as 1 UR, 1 OBC and 1 SC. Your rank is not decided by a written exam alone — your final score also includes a PowerPoint presentation on your work experience and a personal interview. This role suits engineering graduates or diploma holders who already have hands-on procurement and materials management experience in shipbuilding, ship repair, offshore fabrication, or similar industries. UCSL is engaged in shipbuilding and repair work, so you should be ready to work at Malpe or at any project site UCSL assigns, anywhere in India or abroad.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification (Option A): Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Electronics & Communication, Marine, or Naval Architecture Engineering from a recognized university, with a minimum of 3 years post-qualification managerial experience.
• Qualification (Option B): Minimum 3-year Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Marine, or Shipbuilding Engineering, with a minimum of 5 years post-qualification managerial experience.
• Experience Field: Your experience must be in Procurement, Stores, or Supply Chain Management at a shipbuilding, ship repair, offshore fabrication, petrochemical, engineering company, or government/semi-government establishment.
• Desirable: Proficiency in AutoCAD, SAP, MS Project, and MS Office, plus at least 1 year of experience in e-procurement or inventory management, is an added advantage.
• Equivalent Qualifications: If your degree or diploma title differs slightly from those listed above, you can still apply by submitting an Equivalency Certificate issued by the competent authority.
• PwBD: Candidates with Low Vision, Deaf and Hard of Hearing, One Arm/One Leg/Both Leg, Leprosy Cured (without functional impairment), Dwarfism, or Acid Attack Victims (without other functional disability) can apply for this post.

Age Limit

• The upper age limit for this post is 30 years as on 27 August 2026 — you should be born on or after 28 August 1996.
• Age Relaxation: OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates get 3 years relaxation, and SC candidates get 5 years relaxation, for posts reserved for them.
• PwBD and Ex-servicemen: Relaxation applies as per Government of India guidelines, but your age after all relaxations cannot exceed 45 years.

Salary

• Selected candidates get a pay scale of Rs. 40,000 to Rs. 1,40,000 per month under the E1 grade (₹40,000-3%-1,40,000).
• As on date, your total monthly emoluments work out to approximately Rs. 80,280 — this includes Basic Pay (₹40,000), DA at 55.7% (₹22,280), HRA at 10% (₹4,000), and Perks & Allowances at 35% (₹14,000).
• You also get benefits like Contributory Provident Fund, Accident Insurance coverage, Contributory Medical Insurance, leave encashment, and National Pension System.

Selection Process

UCSL will select you through 3 stages for a total of 100 marks:

1. Objective Type Test: 50 MCQs for 50 marks in 60 minutes — 10 marks on General Knowledge and 40 marks on your subject. There is no negative marking.
2. Certificate Verification: If you clear the minimum pass marks (50% for UR, 45% for OBC, 40% for SC and PwBD), you need to produce original certificates for age, qualification, and category.
3. PowerPoint Presentation and Personal Interview: Worth 30 marks (presentation assessing your work experience) and 20 marks (interview) respectively.

Your final rank depends on your combined score across all three stages. In case of a tie, marks in the subject-based part of the objective test decide the order, followed by seniority in age. If you're shortlisted for the interview, UCSL also reimburses to-and-fro AC 3-tier train fare from your mailing address to Malpe, on submission of proof.
