HAL ITI Trade Apprentice Recruitment 2026: Overview

Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), a Maharatna Central Public Sector Undertaking under the Ministry of Defence, is engaging 355 ITI apprentices across 17 trades at its Aircraft Division in Nasik under the Apprentices Act, 1961. The drive covers both 2-year trades like Fitter, Turner, Machinist and Electrician, and 1-year trades like Carpenter, Welder and Computer Operator and Programming Assistant (COPA). This is training under the National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS) — it does not create a claim to a permanent HAL job afterward. ITI-qualified candidates from NCVT or SCVT-recognized institutes across India can apply.

Posts and Disciplines

• Fitter: the largest trade in this drive, open to candidates with a 2-year ITI in the Fitter trade.
• Electrician: a major 2-year trade opening for ITI Electrician-qualified candidates.
• Turner and Machinist: precision machining trades for 2-year ITI holders, including a separate Machinist (Grinder) stream.
• Computer Operator and Programming Assistant (COPA): the largest 1-year trade in the drive, for candidates with a 1-year ITI in COPA.
• Tool & Die Maker (Jig & Fixture and Die & Mould), Electronics Mechanic, Draughtsman (Mechanical), Mechanic (Motor Vehicle), Refrigeration and Air-conditioning Mechanic, Painter (General) and Aerospace Structural Fitter: smaller 2-year trades rounding out the aircraft-manufacturing skill set.
• Carpenter, Sheet Metal Worker and Welder (Gas & Electric): 1-year trades that complete the intake.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Reservation: Seats are reserved as per the Apprentices Act — SC 10%, ST 9%, OBC (non-creamy layer) 27%, EWS 10% and PWD 4% of the intake in each trade.
• Merit calculation: Your rank is based on 70% weightage to your SSC (10th) marks and 30% weightage to your ITI marks across all semesters — there is no written test or interview.
• No fee: HAL does not charge any registration or application fee for this apprenticeship — be cautious of anyone asking you to pay.
• NAPS registration is mandatory: Your application is rejected without a valid registration number from the NAPS portal.
• Not a job offer: This is training under the Apprentices Act — HAL is under no obligation to offer regular employment once the training ends.
• Bank account: Your stipend is paid only into an Aadhaar-seeded SBI savings account, so keep this ready before you register.
• No TA/DA: No travel allowance is paid for document verification or joining.

Application Submission Notes

Registration on the NAPS portal (apprenticeshipindia.gov.in) with your SSC and ITI education details comes before the application form itself — the form is rejected without a valid registration number. Candidates who have already completed or are currently undergoing an apprenticeship elsewhere are not eligible to apply again in the same trade. Physical document verification of shortlisted candidates falls in the second and third week of September 2026, with joining expected in early October 2026.
