Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital & Research Centre, Punjab — a unit of the Tata Memorial Centre and a grant-in-aid institution under the Department of Atomic Energy — has invited applications for 1 Senior Resident post in Microbiology. This is a one-year tenure position at the hospital's Sangrur and Mullanpur (New Chandigarh) campuses, both part of the growing TMC network of regional cancer centres set up to expand affordable, high-quality cancer care across India. There is no written exam — candidates are selected purely through a walk-in interview. Doctors with an M.D./D.N.B. in Microbiology who want hands-on clinical and research experience at a premier cancer hospital, alongside exposure to oncology-focused diagnostics, should apply.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: M.D. or D.N.B. in Microbiology, recognized by the National Medical Commission.
• Nationality: Indian Nationals only.
• Tenure: The post is for one year from the date of joining, with salary based on your relevant post-qualification work experience.
• Rotation: Selected candidates may be rotated across any unit of TMC, including Tata Memorial Hospital Mumbai, ACTREC Navi Mumbai, HBCH Sangrur, and HBCH&RC Mullanpur.

Age Limit

• You should not be older than 40 years as on the date of the walk-in interview.
• Your age and experience will both be counted as on the date of the walk-in interview, and experience is counted only from after you complete the required qualification.
• Age Relaxation: 5 years for SC/ST, 3 years for OBC, 10 years for PwD (plus an extra 5 years for SC/ST-PwD or 3 years for OBC-PwD), and length of armed forces service plus 3 years for Ex-servicemen.
• TMC/Project Employees: Age relaxation of up to 5 years for existing TMC employees, including those on a temporary, project, or contract basis.
• If a post is notified only for the unreserved category, age relaxation will not apply to reserved-category candidates.

Salary

• Selected candidates get a salary of Rs. 1,33,623 to Rs. 1,45,530 per month, based on relevant work experience after completing the essential qualification.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

Selection is done directly through a walk-in interview:

1. Document Verification: Bring photocopies of your caste certificate (mandatory for SC/ST/OBC Non-Creamy Layer), EWS certificate in the valid format, and, if applicable, a Persons with Disability certificate (including for Autism, Intellectual Disability, Specific Learning Disability, and Mental Illness) — along with all original documents for verification.
2. Interview: Attend the interview at the Academics Department to be assessed by the selection committee. Reservation of posts under various categories applies as per Government rules.

TMC reserves the right to set a minimum eligibility benchmark and restrict the number of candidates called for interview based on academic marks, number of vacancies, and other factors. The decision of the Director, HBCH&RC Punjab is final and binding, and no correspondence will be entertained on this. Canvassing in any form will disqualify your candidature, and furnishing false or incomplete information can lead to cancellation of candidature even after appointment.

How to Apply

2. If you work in a Government/Semi-Government/PSU organization, get permission from your Head of the Organization to attend the interview — you must produce this permission letter at the time of the interview, or you will not be allowed to appear.
