The Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Mumbai is hiring a full-time Field Coordinator for the School Initiative for Mental Health Advocacy (SIMHA), a field action project the institute has been running since 2017. SIMHA works directly inside schools — it trains school leaders, teachers and counsellors, shares knowledge with them, and pushes for better mental health and well-being for children and teenagers. The person picked for this job will be the project's eyes and ears on the ground across 37 partner schools, so the work is mostly travel and school visits rather than desk work. TISS is a Deemed to be University and a grant-in-aid institute under the Ministry of Education, and this post sits on the project side of the institute, not on its teaching rolls.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Engagement: This is a project post for six months, and it continues only if the project itself gets an extension. Work is expected to start in October 2026.
• Travel: The role needs you to move across different districts of Maharashtra through the year, so TISS prefers candidates already living in the state.
• Language: Marathi is not optional here. You will talk to principals, school staff and government officers in Marathi every day, and you also need clear written and spoken English for reporting.
• Where you are based: Candidates based in the Nashik, Thane, Nagpur or Amravati districts get preference, because the partner schools cluster around these areas.
• Shortlisting: Having the degree and the experience does not guarantee an interview call — the project team screens every application first and only calls the shortlisted names.
• Interviews: Shortlisted candidates are interviewed on an online platform, so you do not have to travel to the Mumbai campus for it.
• Open sourcing of candidates: The institute keeps the right to consider suitable resumes that did not come through a direct application.

• Step in with on-site support when a school faces an urgent or special situation
