The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB), under the Ministry of Railways, has released a short notice for 119 Section Controller posts spread across 15 Zonal Railways. The short notice (CEN 03/2026) was published in the Employment News on 23 June 2026, and the detailed notification comes out on 14 July 2026. Any graduate can apply — there is no technical degree needed. If you missed the last Section Controller exam, this is a fresh chance to get a permanent Railway job.

Who Can Apply?
- Qualification: You must have a graduation degree in any subject from a recognised university.
- Nationality: You must be an Indian citizen.

Age Limit
- You should be between 20 and 33 years old as on 01 July 2026.
- Age Relaxation: SC/ST get 5 years, OBC get 3 years, and other reserved categories get relaxation as per Railway and government rules.
Salary
- Starting salary is Rs. 35,400 per month under Pay Level 6 of the 7th Central Pay Commission.
- You will also get DA, HRA, Transport Allowance and Night Duty Allowance as per Railway rules.

Selection Process
The selection will be done in these stages:
- Computer-Based Test (CBT): An objective MCQ exam testing General Awareness, Mathematics, General Intelligence and Reasoning, and General Science.
- Computer-Based Aptitude Test (CBAT): A psycho-aptitude test, since Section Controllers handle train movement safety. You must clear this to move ahead.
- Document Verification
- Medical Examination: Section Controller is a safety post, so you must meet the required medical fitness standards.

The selection starts with a Computer-Based Test (CBT), followed by a Computer-Based Aptitude Test (CBAT).
Computer-Based Test (CBT)
The CBT is an objective (MCQ) exam taken on a computer. It usually covers these subjects:
- General Awareness
- Mathematics
- General Intelligence and Reasoning
- General Science
There is usually negative marking for wrong answers in RRB exams. The exam is available in multiple languages including English and Hindi.
Computer-Based Aptitude Test (CBAT)
