Professor Jayashankar Telangana Agricultural University (PJTAU) runs AgHub, which it describes as the first Agri Innovation Hub of its kind — an incubator that backs agribusiness startups and rural entrepreneurs from its base at the university's Rajendranagar campus in Hyderabad. AgHub is looking for a Business Development Manager (BDM) to grow its incubation programmes, bring in partners and raise funds. This is not a routine government desk job: it suits you if you have an agriculture background, a management degree and hands-on experience in the startup or agribusiness world.

The BDM reports directly to the Managing Director of AgHub and works across the hub in Hyderabad and its spoke centres, so expect regular travel for programmes, partner meetings and startup outreach.

Post-wise Duties

Business Development Manager

You will own business development for the incubator: scouting entrepreneurs, managing the startup pipeline at the hub and spokes, and rolling out new programmes and business initiatives. You will also build partnerships with sponsors, mentors, corporates and investors, and link the startup cohort with angel investors, seed funds, CSR programmes and VC firms.

Alongside this, you will give operational support to the incubator team — programmes, advertising and other activities — and help generate income for AgHub from different sources.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Nature of engagement: Full-time and co-terminus with AgHub, so the post lasts as long as the AgHub set-up continues; it is not a permanent university post.
• Pay is negotiable: The notice fixes a minimum monthly salary and says it can go higher for highly deserving candidates, depending on job fit.
• Travel: The job is based in Hyderabad but needs travel as operational and business needs demand.
• Preference: People who have worked in agribusiness industries and shown results in promoting entrepreneurship, innovation and outreach will be preferred.
• Teamwork: AgHub wants a team player who understands what startups need.
• No TA/DA: You will not be paid travel costs for attending the interview.
• Canvassing: Any canvassing or outside influence will disqualify you. AgHub-PJTAU may also decide not to fill the post without giving reasons.
