Oil India Limited (OIL), a Maharatna Public Sector Undertaking and India's second-largest upstream Oil & Gas company, has released Advertisement No. HRAQ/CONT-EX-B/26-299 dated 29 July 2026 to engage a Consultant (Fishing) at its Field Headquarters in Duliajan, Assam. This is a highly specialised, well-paid re-engagement opportunity for retired senior oil-field engineers rather than a typical entry-level government job — OIL wants someone with deep hands-on fishing-operations experience to guide its well services team. Duliajan in Assam is home to OIL's oldest and largest oil field, and the company runs upstream exploration and production operations across India along with a growing international portfolio. The engagement is initially for 6 months and can be extended in three more 6-month tenures, taking it up to a maximum of 2 years, depending on your performance, conduct, and the Company's requirement.

Who Can Apply?

Since this is a specialist consultancy role and not a fresh recruitment, OIL is specifically looking for someone who has already spent a career solving these problems in the field, not a candidate who needs on-the-job training.

• Qualification: Minimum Graduate or Diploma holder (any discipline) from a full-time regular course at an AICTE/UGC recognized institute.
• Experience: You need at least 25 years of working experience in the upstream oil and gas sector (Government/PSU/Private), including a minimum of 10 years in Well Services/Workover rigs and at least 5 years of dedicated experience in Cased Hole/Well Services Fishing.
• Retirement grade: You must have retired at least from the post of Deputy General Manager (Grade F) or an equivalent post from OIL or any other Government/PSU/Private sector organisation.
• Skills: You should have hands-on experience with retrieval of stuck packers, bridge plugs, casing repair, milling operations, wireline tool recovery, and wash-over jobs in cased hole sections of 4⅝" to 9⅝" using 550-1000 HP workover rigs. Experience designing or fabricating fishing tools for unconventional jobs is preferred.
• Fitness: You should be physically fit and willing to travel frequently within OIL's operational areas.
• Working pattern: You will work in line with regular OIL officers and keep normal officer timings, including being called in on weekly offs or holidays during an urgency, without extra payment.
• Posting: You will be based at Field Headquarters, Duliajan, Assam, though the Company may ask you to work at other OIL locations as per its policy.
• You cannot take up any assignment with another organisation while engaged as Consultant with OIL.

Age Limit

• You must not be more than 63 years old as on the last date of receipt of application, 28 August 2026.

Salary

• You will get a consolidated monthly honorarium of Rs. 1,50,000, inclusive of local conveyance, telephone, and internet expenses.
• During official domestic tours away from your place of posting, you will get a lump-sum daily allowance of Rs. 1,800 per day, plus travel, boarding, and lodging as per the equivalent grade of Consultant.
• You will be entitled to 10 days of leave for every 6-month tenure (non-cumulative, non-encashable), and normal Company holidays will apply.
• No TA/DA is paid for the interview and no reimbursement is provided for joining — you must also arrange your own accommodation. Applicable GST and income tax will be deducted as per rules.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

Selection is done in 1 stage:

1. Personal Interaction with Selection Committee: Shortlisted candidates will be informed by email about the mode, date, and time of the interaction.

Since this is a senior consultant-level engagement, there is no written test or physical test — your career track record and the interaction with the Selection Committee decide the outcome.
