BRIC-National Institute of Animal Biotechnology (NIAB) JRF Recruitment 2026

The BRIC-National Institute of Animal Biotechnology (NIAB) is an autonomous institute under the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India, located in Gachibowli, Hyderabad. Through Advertisement No. 19/2026, NIAB has opened one Junior Research Fellow post for a DBT-funded project titled "Exploring how Theileria parasites repress host gene expression (PARA REPRESS)", led by Dr. Anand Srivastava, Scientist-E. Theileria is a group of tick-borne parasites that infects cattle and other livestock, and this project studies how these parasites alter the genetic activity of the host cells they infect. This is a one-year contract position, and it is a good opportunity for life science postgraduates who want hands-on research experience at a premier government biotechnology institute before pursuing a PhD or a longer research career. You would work directly under an experienced Scientist-E and get exposure to advanced techniques in molecular parasitology and host-pathogen biology.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: You need a Post Graduate Degree in Basic Science, OR a Graduate/Post Graduate Degree in a Professional Course, provided you also meet one of the two routes below.
• Route A - National Eligibility Test: You should have qualified CSIR-UGC NET (including Lectureship/Assistant Professorship eligibility) or GATE.
• Route B - National-Level Exam: You should have qualified through a national-level examination conducted by a Central Government department, agency, or institution, as per DST guidelines.
• Preferred Experience: Candidates with hands-on experience in epigenomics, cancer biology, molecular biology, cell culture, or bioinformatics will be given preference during shortlisting.

There is no domicile restriction mentioned in the notification, so candidates from any state can apply for this position, as long as they meet the qualification and NET/GATE requirement.

Age Limit

• You should be up to 30 years old to apply for this JRF position.
• The notification does not mention any age relaxation for reserved categories, so check with NIAB directly if you need clarification.

Salary

• Selected candidates will get a fellowship of Rs. 37,000 per month.
• You will also get House Rent Allowance (HRA) at 24%, if applicable, as per DST guidelines.

Selection Process

The selection will be done in 2 stages:

1. Screening: NIAB will screen all applications based on your qualifications and relevant experience. Shortlisted candidates will be intimated by email.
2. Interview: Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed by a duly constituted selection committee at NIAB.

Note: There is no written exam for this post - selection is purely through screening and interview.

Only a Provisional Degree Certificate or Convocation Degree Certificate will be accepted as proof of your educational qualification, and any experience certificate must be issued by the Head of the Department or Office where you worked.
