National Health Mission (NHM) Maharashtra Medical Health Officer Recruitment 2026 - 28 Posts

The Public Health Department, Government of Maharashtra, working through the National Urban Health Mission (NUHM) wing of NHM, has invited applications to fill 28 regular Medical Health Officer posts lying vacant in Municipal Corporations across the state. As per the Government Resolution dated 4 November 2025, the state set up a new Urban Health Commissionerate to strengthen Maharashtra's urban health system, and this deputation drive is part of that push. The Medical Health Officer posts belong to the establishment of the respective Municipal Corporations, and the state Public Health Department is filling them by deputing officers from an equivalent cadre.

Only officers already working as Deputy Director, Health Services or Assistant Director, Health Services in the Public Health Department are eligible to apply — this is a lateral government-to-government move, not a fresh recruitment drive for candidates outside the department.

Who Can Apply?

• Eligible cadre: You must currently be serving as a Deputy Director, Health Services or Assistant Director, Health Services in the Public Health Department, Government of Maharashtra.
• Post applied for: You can apply for the specific Municipal Corporation Medical Health Officer post listed in the annexure attached to the official notification.
• Exceptional cases: Officers with exceptionally strong qualifications may, at the discretion of the competent authority, be considered for deputation to a post one level above their current one.
• This opportunity is not open to fresh graduates, private candidates, or officers outside the Public Health Department cadre.

Selection Process

Selection is based on document review — there is no written exam or interview mentioned in the notification:

1. Application Screening: Your application is checked to confirm you meet the cadre eligibility for deputation.
2. Document Evaluation: Your Vision Document, three-year Action Plan and Suitability Statement are assessed by the competent authority for the specific post you have applied for.
3. Final Selection: Deputation orders are issued for eligible officers based on the outcome of this evaluation.

1. Prepare a Vision Document for the Medical Health Officer post you are applying for (maximum 500 words).
2. Prepare a three-year Action Plan for the post.
3. Write a Suitability Statement explaining why you are fit for the post (maximum 500 words).
4. Attach these documents to your application.
