Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) has released Advertisement No. 009/2026 for the recruitment of 297 Medical Officer (Group-B) posts in Government Medical Colleges and Hospitals under the Department of Medical Education and Research, Maharashtra. This is one of the largest medical officer drives by MPSC in recent years, offering a great opportunity for MBBS graduates looking to build a career in government healthcare. Who Can Apply?

  • Qualification: You must have an MBBS degree from a university recognized under the National Medical Commission Act, 2019 (or any statutory university).
  • Registration: You need to be registered with the Maharashtra Medical Council at the time of application.
  • Nationality: You must be an Indian citizen. Reservation benefits apply to Maharashtra domicile holders as per state government rules.

Age Limit

  • You should be between 18 and 45 years old (for Open / Unreserved category).

  • You will also get Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), Non-Practicing Allowance (NPA), and other allowances as per Maharashtra Government rules.
  • The total in-hand salary with all allowances can be significantly higher than the basic pay.

Selection Process

The selection for MPSC Medical Officer (Group-B) posts will be based on a screening test and interview process:

  • Participate in teaching and training of medical students and interns at the college
  • Work in shifts including night duty, emergency duty, and on-call duty as assigned
  • Follow infection control guidelines and standard medical procedures at all times
  • Contribute to public health programmes and medical camps organized by the state government
