Konkan Railway Corporation Limited (KRCL), a Government of India undertaking under the Ministry of Railways, has released Notification No. CO/P-R/6C/2026 dated 7 May 2026. These posts are on fixed-term contract for an initial period of one year, extendable up to five years based on performance and KRCL requirement. Most roles are linked to Valdapudi Workshop, Visakhapatnam, with Project Manager also connected to Corporate Office Belapur and project monitoring.

Who Can Apply?

Project Manager/Mechanical

• Qualification: Full-time degree in Mechanical, Production & Industrial, Automobile, Manufacturing, Mechatronic, Material Sciences or Metallurgical Engineering from an AICTE-recognised institute.
• Experience: Minimum 6 years post-qualification experience in mechanical industry. Workshop or manufacturing experience is preferred.
• Age: Up to 45 years as on 1 May 2026.

Project Engineer/Mechanical

• Qualification: Full-time degree in the same listed mechanical/allied engineering disciplines from an AICTE-recognised institute.
• Experience: Minimum 4 years post-qualification experience in mechanical industry.
• Age: Up to 50 years as on 1 May 2026.

Junior Technical Assistant/Mechanical

• Qualification: Full-time degree in Mechanical, Production & Industrial, Automobile, Manufacturing, Mechatronic, Material Sciences or Metallurgical Engineering.
• Experience: Minimum 2 years post-qualification experience.
• Age: Up to 45 years as on 1 May 2026.

Safety Officer

• Qualification: Diploma in Industrial Safety recognised by the Government for Safety Officer recruitment, plus Degree/Diploma in Engineering/Technology; or Degree/Diploma in Science with Physics or Chemistry as a major subject.
• Experience: Minimum 1 year post-qualification experience is desirable.
• Age: Up to 55 years as on 1 May 2026.

Age Limit

• Age will be counted as on 1 May 2026.
• Project Manager/Mechanical: up to 45 years.
• Project Engineer/Mechanical: up to 50 years.
• Junior Technical Assistant/Mechanical: up to 45 years.
• Safety Officer: up to 55 years.
• OBC-NCL: 3 years relaxation if applying against the respective reserved post.
• SC: 5 years relaxation if applying against the respective reserved post.
• Ex-servicemen: relaxation is discretionary as per KRCL terms.

Salary

• Project Manager/Mechanical: Rs. 67,140 to Rs. 76,660 per month based on city class.
• Project Engineer/Mechanical: Rs. 50,060 to Rs. 57,140 per month based on city class.
• Junior Technical Assistant/Mechanical: Rs. 41,380 to Rs. 47,220 per month based on city class.
• Safety Officer: Rs. 41,380 to Rs. 47,220 per month based on city class.
• Pay includes Basic, DA, HRA, Conveyance and Mobile Allowance. KRCL also mentions medical allowance, insurance premium reimbursement, travel facilities and leave as per contract terms.

Work location note: The notification links the workshop roles with Valdapudi Workshop, Visakhapatnam. Project Manager also has work connected with Corporate Office Belapur for project monitoring, material procurement, manpower availability and bill claims. KRCL can transfer contract staff during the contract period based on project requirement.

Selection Process (Walk-in Interview)

Selection will be through a walk-in interview after preliminary screening of documents.

1. Registration: Report at the venue between 09:00 hrs and 12:00 hrs on the interview date.
2. Document Screening: KRCL will check your application and certificates first.
3. Elimination Round if Needed: KRCL may introduce Group Discussion, written test or another round depending on the number of applicants.
4. Interview: A nominated committee will assess performance, qualification and post-qualification experience.
5. Medical Examination: Selected applicants must pass the prescribed medical examination before contract joining.

3. Carry original certificates, one set of self-attested copies and two recent passport-size photos.
4. Report to Executive Club, Konkan Rail Vihar, near Seawoods Railway Station, Sector-40, Seawoods West, Navi Mumbai.
5. Attend the walk-in interview on 22 May 2026 for Project Manager, Project Engineer and Junior Technical Assistant posts.
6. Attend the walk-in interview on 26 May 2026 for Safety Officer.

Documents to carry: qualification certificates, proof of date of birth, caste certificate if applicable, ex-servicemen service certificate if applicable, two passport-size photos, experience certificates and a character certificate. KRCL says incomplete forms or unclear certificates can be rejected during preliminary screening, so carry both originals and self-attested copies.

Contract terms: The initial contract is for one year and can be extended up to five years. Selected applicants may need to execute an agreement and indemnity bond of Rs. 50,000 before joining.
