Kerala PSC Assistant Professor Neurosurgery Recruitment 2026

The Kerala Public Service Commission (KPSC) is inviting online applications for 1 Assistant Professor in Neurosurgery post in the Medical Education Department, Government of Kerala. If you hold an M.Ch / DNB / DrNB in Neurosurgery with permanent medical council registration, you can apply online through One Time Registration (OTR). The last date to apply is 2 September 2026. Medical Education Department Assistant Professor in Neurosurgery Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

The Kerala Public Service Commission has released Gazette Notification Category No. 073/2026, dated 30 July 2026, for statewide direct recruitment to the post of Assistant Professor in Neurosurgery in the Medical Education Department. This is a fresh vacancy, and KPSC will prepare a rank list from this notification that stays valid for a minimum of one year and up to three years. 4% of the reported vacancies are reserved for eligible Differently Abled candidates as per G.O(P) No. 5/2023/SJD dated 01.10.2023. Selected candidates must also be prepared to serve up to 4 years in Defence-related medical service anywhere in India (or in any foreign country connected with Defence, if required) during their first 10 years of service, including training. Candidates who have completed 45 years of age and Differently Abled candidates are exempted from this compulsory military service requirement.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: M.Ch / DNB / DrNB in Neurosurgery.
• Additional Requirement: You must have completed the Basic Course in Biomedical Research from a medical institution recognised and designated by the National Medical Commission (NMC).
• Registration: Permanent registration under the Kerala State Medical Council (TCMC) or the Council for Modern Medicine is mandatory.
• Qualifications are assessed as per NMC Regulations 2025, Medical Institutions (Qualifications of Faculty) Regulations, 2025 dated 30.06.2025.

Age Limit

• You should be between 22 and 49 years old — only candidates born between 2 January 1977 and 1 January 2004 (both dates included) are eligible to apply.
• Age Relaxation: Usual relaxation applies to Other Backward Community and SC/ST candidates, as per Part II, Para 2 of the General Conditions of the Gazette Notification.

Salary

• Salary for this post is paid as per UGC norms applicable to Assistant Professor positions in medical education.
• You will also get DA, HRA and other allowances as per Kerala Government rules.

Selection Process

Kerala PSC follows these steps to select candidates for this post:

1. Written/OMR/Online Test (if conducted): If KPSC decides to hold a test for this post, you must submit a confirmation through your OTR profile to be considered. Only candidates who confirm can generate and download their admit card, usually available in the last 15 days before the test.
2. Document Verification: You need to produce original documents proving your qualification, registration, age, community and other claims when called for.
3. Rank List Preparation: KPSC prepares a rank list valid for one to three years and advises candidates for appointment against the vacancy notified and any further vacancies reported during the life of the list.

KPSC can take disciplinary action, including debarment, against candidates who submit false claims about their qualifications or experience, so make sure every detail in your application is accurate.

2. If you are a new user, complete your One Time Registration (OTR) and upload a photograph taken within the last 6 months.
3. Already registered candidates should log in to their profile using their User ID and password.
4. Click on Apply Now next to the Assistant Professor in Neurosurgery notification link.
5. Check that all details in your profile are correct before final submission — you cannot edit your application after the last date.
6. Submit the application and keep a soft copy or printout for your records, as you may need it for future correspondence with the Commission.
