IOCL Apprentice Recruitment 2026: Overview

Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) is engaging apprentices at its Bongaigaon Refinery in Assam through a skill-building programme under the Apprentices Act. You will join a refinery training environment, with trade and technician streams linked to plant operations and maintenance. This is an apprenticeship engagement, and completing it does not give you a right to a regular job with the company.

Posts and Disciplines

• Trade Apprentice — Attendant Operator: This stream belongs to the Chemical discipline and is identified as code 101 in the notice.
• Trade Apprentice — Boiler: This stream belongs to the Mechanical discipline and carries code 103.
• Technician Apprentice — Instrumentation: This technical training stream carries code 107. It is the only notified discipline identified for applicants with benchmark disabilities, subject to the notice's disability provisions.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Training period: Attendant Operator and Instrumentation apprentices train for 12 months. Boiler apprentices train for 24 months. Extensions are possible in circumstances covered by the Apprentices Rules.
• Employment after training: IOCL has no obligation to offer you employment after the apprenticeship. You should treat this as a defined training engagement when considering the opportunity.
• Seat allocation: The notified seats are tentative. Management may revise the distribution in line with the applicable reservation rules, and unfilled reserved seats follow the interchange provisions described in the advertisement.
• Plant environment: Training takes place in a petroleum refinery, which the notice identifies as a hazardous industrial setting. Disability suitability therefore depends on the identified trade and the notified categories.
• Conduct: Apprentices follow the establishment's certified standing orders. The apprenticeship agreement is registered online with the relevant authorities.
• Leave: General leave is 32 days at 8 days per quarter, while casual leave is 12 days per calendar year on a proportionate basis. Establishment holidays apply, and unused leave lapses when training ends.
• Accuracy of information: Your candidature remains provisional until the records are checked. Incorrect information or concealed facts can lead to cancellation, including termination after engagement.
• Disputes: Matters arising from this engagement fall under the local court at Chirang.
