IIT Roorkee Junior Research Fellow Recruitment 2026: Overview

Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IIT Roorkee) is engaging a Junior Research Fellow in the Department of Physics for an ANRF-sponsored advanced detector-materials project. The project combines Bridgman-grown single crystals with additively manufactured plastic and ceramic scintillators for time-of-flight PET and related applications. This is an interdisciplinary laboratory role where materials development, detector geometry and measurement performance meet in one research programme.

The fellow will join the group led by Prof. Anil Kumar Gourishetty and work on developing and optimising 3D-printed scintillator materials and structures. You will prepare formulations, fabricate samples and study their optical, structural and scintillation behaviour. The project also explores heterostructured detector configurations to improve timing and detection, so the work is broader than routine sample preparation and calls for careful experimental reasoning.

The research exposure spans scintillation materials, additive manufacturing and radiation-detector instrumentation, with related work in photodetectors, electronics and data analysis. This makes the position useful for a researcher who wants to understand the full chain from material preparation to detector response.
