IDRBT Oracle Database Architect Recruitment 2026: Overview

The Institute for Development and Research in Banking Technology (IDRBT), set up by the Reserve Bank of India, is looking for an Oracle Database Architect / Administrator on a full-time contract. The institute builds digital public infrastructure and products for the banking sector, and runs research, executive education and consultancy — so the databases you look after support real projects, not just a single office system. This is a rolling advertisement (No. 07/2026-27, dated 31 August 2026), which means you can apply at any time rather than racing a fixed deadline.

The job suits you if you already work hands-on with Oracle databases and are comfortable with operating systems, backups and security. You will manage development, test and production databases across several teams, and help shape how IDRBT deploys its wider IT infrastructure in a secure and efficient way. Skills in Oracle RAC, Data Guard, GoldenGate, PL/SQL and shell scripting will make your application stand out, and relevant certifications and experience can earn you a higher package.

There is also room to grow. IDRBT has six research centres working on emerging technologies and runs executive development programmes for banking and non-banking professionals, so you get to learn on the job and sharpen your skills alongside researchers and PhD students.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Contract term: you are hired on a full-time contract for three years at first, which can be extended. Your annual performance decides whether the contract continues.
• Probation and notice: the first three months are probation. After that, either you or the institute can end the contract with one month's notice.
• No regularisation: people hired through this notice will not be absorbed or made regular. IDRBT publishes a separate advertisement for regular posts.
• Pay is negotiable: the annual package depends on your skills, experience and outlook, and other benefits follow institute rules.
• Screening: the first shortlisting is based only on what you fill in the application form, so give complete and accurate details.
• Institute's decision is final: if a mistake in the selection process is found later, even after an offer letter is issued, IDRBT can change, withdraw or cancel it.

• Create and maintain the databases used for development, testing and production
• Plan database capacity with the system and infrastructure teams, following Oracle deployment best practices
• Monitor database health and take preventive or corrective action when needed
• Tune database instances on an ongoing basis for better performance
• Install new versions of Oracle RDBMS and related tools
• Plan and run backup and recovery, including BCP/DR drills
• Manage deployments across different operating systems and cloud instances, and support MSSQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB and Elastic when required
• Conduct training and demonstrations on database topics for users and teams
